Default Staying up

Sometimes when I'm at sleep overs or just spending the night at someone elses house, I fall asleep before everyone else, or I'm the 2nd one asleep and I hate it! Are there any other things I can do to help me stay awake other than drinking caffine? My sister Audree says that's retarted that I'm 14 and I fall asleep at midnight!

Please help! Thanks!

stop listening to your sisters, they're so stupid it makes me nauseus.

i'm sixteen and i love falling asleep early and waking up early. seriously, i wish i could kick my habit of sleeping from 3/4am-7am (or 12/1pm on the weekends) and then sleeping all afternoon.

There's really not much you can do.

BY THE WAY, STOP LISTENING TO YOUR SISTERS. PLEASE.

It's just the way your body is. Don't try to force the changes on your body. It does as it wants to. With me, I have been a nightowl ever since I was a little girl and that has never changed. I don't know how to change it, because frankly it's really irritating. I wish I could fall asleep at midnight and wake up at 7 or 8am. I miss the quietness of the early morning...It's quiet at night too but I like the morning better. By the time I wake up, everybody is already bustling about. I can also operate on as little as 5 to 6 hours of sleep and again...Irritating.

Why not take a nap before you go to the sleepover. Maybe that will help you stay awake a little longer. And like everyone else said, Stop listening to your sisters. They sound like little brats and they don't even know what they're talking about half the time. There's nothing wrong with going to bed early. I'm in my 30's and before my baby came along I was almost always in bed by 9:30.

Yeah, they probably say it cause it usually gets to me
Audree's usually the biggest problem.....her "right time" to fall asleep is 4 AM

Don't listen to your sister. Staying up so late just makes you feel crappy the next morning.

When it's not a school night, I can be quite the night owl...I've been known to go to bed past 2 a.m. - it's not usually that late, though.

I'm really not sure what you can do, though - if you're tired, you're tired, and you'll have to fall asleep. Midnight isn't all that early to go to sleep, anyway.

Maybe you could find some way of keeping your mind active so it'll have a tougher time shutting down, or maybe listen to some music on some earphones, or something.

I agree that you shouldn't take so much notice of what your sisters say. They seem to put you down a lot. Try not to let it bother you so much. They're younger, you're probably much smarter than they are. The next time Audree tells you you're ********, tell her, "All people are different, my dear. You need to learn the importance of tolerance and moderation. Destroy your pointless prejudices against those who fall asleep at an earlier time than you." Try to put loads of big words in; that can intimidate people who are annoying you.

Yeah, try taking a nap before you sleep over. It'll help a bit. Other than that, don't try to fight it if your body is truly tired. It'll cause more stress on your body, and that is not good either.

And... Seriously, STOP listening to your sisters. Please just stop trying to compare yourself to them. It'll do nothing but drive you nuts by spending sooooo much time and energy doing so. Trust me...I've done it before.

I was always the one at parties who stayed up the latest. The next morning I would have not slept at all or slept so little I felt yucky when the other people slept more and felt better. So I wished I was more like you. I can't sleep very well at other places though.

The advice so far is good:
*if you can, take a nap before the parties if you really want to stay up later
*blow off what your sisters say because they are mean, rude, insulting little girls

I agree with Sarah. Your sisters seem incredibly stupid and you shouldn't waste your time listening to the crap they say about you.
