In the episode where the gorilla is throwing the grenades, at the end Gilligan and the gorilla are at the lagoon throwing the grenades in the water and Professor and Skipper approach. After the grenades are gone, the gorilla taps on a red thing and Gillgan tells him its not a grenade, but he throws it anyway. The Professor says "Look out!" We then hear the explosion and see a mushroom cloud and Professor says , " Hey, it was ( or wasn't) a grenade after all". I have always wondered what he meant and why is it supposed to be funny. Does anybody here get it?

The Professor says , " Hey, it wasn't a grenade after all".
I found it funny in the extraordinary (and casual) understatement by the Professor. There's a monumental difference between a grenade and an atomic bomb. |

I think it's funny because it's just absurd and silly...
...if it had really happened the professor wouldn't have said anything because he and everything on the island would have been utterly destroyed in a milisecond of extremely bright light...... ....of course, that wouldn't have been as funny
