Mel Gibson's new film, Apocalypto

Has anyone heard about Mel Gibson's upcoming new film, "Apocalypto"?? I was at the theatres last night, and saw a preview for it, and it looked incredible!! Iv'e looked all over the net, and haven't been able to find anything about it though. Have any of you come across any articles, or information about the film. I wrote to Mel a couple years ago suggesting that I think he should make an end times film, so naturally that's what I'm hoping it is. Regardless of that though, it looks really good, and I'd greatly appreciate some info about it if anyone has any. Thanks!!

is Mel finished with acting? I haven't heard anything about him doing any acting roles since Passion and that was two years ago. The fact he has another movie coming out that he directed makes me wonder if he's gone the Ron Howard route.

I think that he should follow up The Passion with a film about The Resurrection, because IMO, the Resurrection is really the most important thing about the crucifixion, any person could've been crucified and tortured, only Jesus could actually be resurrected.

Mel said in an interview on Primetime Live with Diane Sawyer in 2004, that he was done with acting. He said he liked directing because you can be a slob, and just boss people around and stuff. I heard he even had the chance to do another Mad Max movie, but he turned that down as well. I hope he changes his mind though. He's one of my all time favorite actors, so hopefully he'll atleast make a few more films. I know he had a funny cameo in Paparrazzi where he was sitting outside the psychiatry office with a ton of paperwork, as if he was a total schitzo or something. That was hilarious!!

I wished in The Passion that he would have put more in their about the Resurrection. I just don't know how he'd be able to do a whole movie about it. I know that according to the Bible he showed up several times to the Apostles over the course of 40 days, but the Bible doesn't really go that deep into what was said and done in that time. I just don't know how he'd be able to pull off a full movie based on the little that's in the Bible in regards to his resurrection.

Well, it's good to hear that he changed his mind from what he felt a couple years ago. He's way too good of an actor, to quit at such a young age. Actors usually get better with age anyway, so hopefully he'll be around for a long time.

Though the script of the film is being kept "top secret", there is no question what the film will be about. The title "Apocalypto" which in Greek means "an unveiling and a new beginning" and the fact that the film will revolve around the ancient, highly evolved and mysterious Mayan civilization, gives away the theme and content of the film. well, in Hollywood, "retirement" means two years, lol. Jamie Lee Curtis has "retired" from acting like three times (she just "retired" again), watch her return to the cinemas in 2007 or 2008. Remember when Celine Dion was going away, and then she's released three or four albums since?

That's a good point. Not to mention the queen of apparent retirements, Jane Fonda. She probably should have stayed retired rather then take such a ****ty role as she did. I wish these actors would quit saying they're retiring all the time, and just call it what it is, a leave of absence.

good point, at least Jane Fonda's retirement did last 15 years, which is a hell of a lot longer than most celebrity retirements are, Jamie Lee Curtis has had three in the past decade
