My little brother is a freshman in college and the school is about a hour away from home. So my brother always seems to be home and never experiecing the college life on campus. Plus he has a dorm room that's being paid for and he is never in it. So my mom is tired of seeing during the week because she knows he has studying that he can be doing or just getting to know people on campus. She doesn;t mind if he comes home on the weekend but she is a little tired of seeing him during the week come through the door. So she went out yesterday and bought a NEW LOCK to put on the door so when he tries to come there this week he won;t be able to get it. So is my mom wrong or what?-lol
BTW: I had keys to the old Lock so she is locking me out too-lol |

Well she did tell him before he left last week that she doesn;t want to see him until friday and he came back on Monday totally ignoring what she told him so she was so mad that she went and bought the new lock. I personally think that's why he is on academic probation because he comes home too much. In college it's not a such thing as I have no studying to do, it's always something you can be doing. |

why doesn't he just stay @ his dorm.. i mean, he doesn't have to come HOME to skip class... he better watch it, that academic probation can kick you square in the ass

Eh, he's a freshman. He's probably just a little nervous about living away from home for the first time. As time goes on he will find some new people to hang out with and he will get more comfortable with it. Your mom should be glad that he actually misses being at home with the family. I know some mothers would kill for their kids to stay in contact with them.
Changing the locks seems a bit extreme to me, lol. |

I'm surprised my dad didn't try that.
I came home every weekend, but I did tough it out during the week.Maybe he doesn't like dorm life; it doesn't suit everyone even if you do make friends on your floor. If that's the case though, he should leave the dorm for good. No sense in wasting all that money. |

That was mean of your mom to just lock him out. I could understand it if he was causing trouble or something. Someone else stated that maybe he's just a little scared about living away from home for the first time and that may be what the problem is. I went through the same thing when I first left home. Your mom should have sat your bro down and tried to get to the root of the problem before having the locks changed. Maybe he didn't even want to go away to college in the first place but felt pressured into it. I think it's best for some kids to go to a community college first. Not everyone is fully prepared to leave the nest and live with a bunch of strangers at 18 years old.
