I didn't even know this show could be classified as a sitcom, since there was no studio audience or even a laugh track. I guess that means Doogie Howser can be classified as a "sitcom" as well.

I don't think having a laugh track or studio audience is a requirement of being sitcom and I do classify Doogie Howser, M.D. as a sitcom (as do many tv reference books).
In my opinion, a laugh track would have ruined The Wonder Years. It did not need it - it had just the right amount of comedy and drama mixed together.. |

I have to agree that it isn't really a sitcom,it was more a 'dramedy' as they called it.It wasn't a comedy,it was more of a drama.
