Here is an article from FMQB last week talking about WXRK where they used to have its call letters at 92.3 in New York for 20+ years as K-Rock is now in Cleveland. The station is now Free-FM and the new call letters WFNY. Same frequency, different name.

WXTM/Cleveland Picks Up WXRK Call Letters, Expands Library, Not Flipping Format

After much speculation, it can be revealed that CBS Radio Modern Rocker WXTM (which now owns the WXRK call letters) is not flipping format. After going jockless on January 1, and touting the station's music selection as being "on random," industry chit-chat had the station flipping format and possibly moving to the Free-FM position. None of that is true, PD Kim Monroe told FMQB. "We're moving more into becoming a mainstream Alternative station. After dropping the Xtreme moniker a few months ago, we want to become even broader and really give Cleveland back a radio station they can have a hand in."

The new 92.3 K-Rock (which will be officially unveiled on air with the previous airstaff intact on January 17), is running back hundreds of phone calls they've received from listeners touting the station's new found musical variety and taking their suggestions to heart.

"We're really letting the listeners have a large part in what we're doing to help us steer the course and a real true Cleveland Alternative station," Monroe told FMQB.

Largely, everything that the station is playing while it's "On Random," WXRK intends to keep in their library. "One of the biggest things we're hearing over and over again [on the listener calls] is variety," says Monroe. Depth tracks from core Alternative artists and occasional dead segues between songs with no imaging are elements that the station has incorporated into their new on-air approach. "How old school is that?," Monroe laughs. "We're having fun, and it's fun radio to listen to. The response has been overwhelming."

A new logo and website re-design is also currently underway.

I actually just noticed that it changed to KRock yesterday. I don't really listen to it that much though.

If you want to listen to the new K-Rock, keep in mind and you will listen to the call letters WXRK in Cleveland, Oh. WXRK is not in New York anymore, it's in Cleveland.
