I could swear it sound better too, Treky. Try watching a TVL ep, then watching the same ep on disc. See what you think.

I fully intend to, as soon as I see that they're showing an episode from seasons 1 or 2-that's all I have, for the moment. I don't want to get anymore until I get a shelf for all my DVDs.

Not to mention the massive amounts of the show that TV Land edits out. I'll never watch TDVDS any other way than my DVDs again.

The DVDs are far superior to the TVLand broadcasts. The image and sound are both better. I rarely watch TDVDS on TV Land anymore. I'm looking forward to receiving my "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" season 3 in the mail. I might even get it today! Then "Hogan's Heroes" season 3 comes out in March. I only hope that "Get Smart" is released this year on DVD as is rumored to be the case.

HOW TRUE! Since I've been watching it on DVD, I've see A LOT of stuff that they cut out! In some cases, even entire scenes! For instance, in "WASHINGTON VS. THE BUNNY"-the one where Rob's forced to make a trip to Washington, but he'll miss seeing Richies play at his school-there's 2 ENTIRE SCENES that TV LAND always cuts out. And in "THE SAM POMERANTZ SCANDALS" they always cut out the opening scene, and in "THE CURIOUS THING ABOUT WOMAN" the "tag scene" has always been cut out. For years, I always thought that Rob mailed that raft to the house on purpose, so Laura would open it. But, when I saw the DVD, and the tag scene, I saw that he didn't.

To be fair, though, it's not always TV LAND. The sydnicator sends reruns to TV LAND, or whoever, with things already cut out. Then the station has the option of trimming more, to fit their schedule.

Unfortunate, yes, but, sadly, that's TV in the 21st century.

I've also noticed that some of the musical numbers are cut. In "Somebody has to play Cleopatra" they always cut about half of Laura's little calipso number (I never understood the lyrics until I saw the uncut version on DVD!), and in the Vic Damone episode they cut out the first part of his song too. (The most beautiful girl in the world...)
It was such a pleasant surprise when I saw the complete, uncut versions!

i started watching DVD as a kid on nick @ nite and i have to say the collection DVDs are a lot better than what they show on TV..the quality is better, they give you all kinds of info and trivia AND they dont usually edit the show up so it doesnt run smoothly.

So true, Stacy Petrie.
Having this show on dvd as opposed to watching it on TV, is like having a cell phone instead of a pager. Makes you wonder how you ever did without it.
