Default Go figure!

I quit posting here for awhile because this board has been so dead. I came back last week and seen some life so I decided to post and I got all of two responses! Well, to the very few people who wonder why I'm not posting, that is why!

Well, it's been a slow couple of weeks around the Cleaver household. I did laugh at your comment about Stephen Talbot being as much of a creep as the Gilbert character he played. Richard wasn't exactly a charmer either. Anyone have any word on the actor who portrayed him? Wasn't he the son of one of the executives who worked on the show?

Yes, I believe Richard Correll was the son of Charles Correll, one of the creators of LITB. Charles Correll was also one of the original "Amos 'n' Andy" (don't know which one) on the radio. Richard was in the "Still the Beaver" movie and also appeared on "The New Leave It to Beaver."

That's so funny, Judge, that you would say that Richard was the son of an exec, cause yesterday, i was watching and i was wondering how Richard got on the show. I liked him and all, but i was just wondering, cause he wasn't as "cute" as some of the other kids. He had an awkwardness to him that was a little too real. Richard was in the pilot movie "Still The Beaver" He was a therapist when he grows up.

Thanks for the word on Richard, judge. And frani, I agree with you, there was a rawness to him that wasn't the case with Gilbert or Whitey. I was going to add that he was obnoxious, but you could say that about pretty much all of Beaver's friends. Speaking of which, was there ever any explanation as to why Larry Mondello was dumped from the cast? He seemed to have all the attributes of a perfect Beaver foil.

It has been covered many times on several LITB boards about how Rusty Stevens had to leave the show because his family was moving to New Jersey. There have been some things said and written that cast doubt on that, and I still think it's possible he just couldn't stand his role any more, as he was close to 14 after season 3, playing a fat, troubled boy about 3 years younger who was always eating and being joked about.

A few days ago the ep was on TVL about Beaver thinking he is now awkward and nobody loves him any more. He visited Miss Landers and Gus the fireman, who he had apparently stopped seeing for quite a while, according to the dialogue. That was the first time I saw that ep that it occurred to me about the New Jersey license plate that Richard 'had' to see before he could go home, that maybe that's a vague reference to Larry Mondello, and possibly the inability to get him to be another 'old friend' that Beaver may have wanted to see, in his near-phobia about getting older and things changing.

Thank you for the information on Rusty Stevens, tdr. I'm new here and had not seen the previous threads on the subject.
