My friend at work has been dating this girl for over a year. He constantly says that he thinks this girl is the nicest women he has ever met, but they don't have a lot in common. He also says that there is something lacking in the bedroom. I asked why does he stay with her and his answer to me was that he wants to stick it out to see if he develops strong feelings for her. He also says a main reason why he sticks with her is because when they first started dating, she was there for him when his aunt died. He says that he'llnever forget that. Is that a legitimate reason to stay with someone? I feel if you don't have strong feelings for someone after a year, you probably won't get them at all. He constantly complains about her text messaging him with cutesy little love messages. Although, I think he does that to show off.

I agree with you. If you don't have feelings for someone after a year, it's gone to hell.

He's most likely staying with her out of guilt.

Yeah, a year seems long enough to find out if you like someone more than just friends. If he thinks she's super nice though, they could just be friends.

It sounds like your friend is with her for the wrong reasons. He may like and respect her a great deal, but if he's not in love with her by now, I don't see it happening.
I think he would be doing himself and her a favor by letting go and possibly salvaging the friendship. She sounds like a nice person who deserves to be adored and have her partner head over heels in love with her. Everyone deserves that. |

Everyone at work is perplexed as why he is with this girl. This past weekend was his 1 year anniversary with the girl. He complained that he went out of his way to give her a romantic evening and all she did was buy him flowers. He said he is a guy and shouldn't have gotten flowers. He also complained that it looked like the flowers weren't even from a florist, but from a supermarket. He also got upset when his grandmother invited her over for Christmas dinner without asking him first.
He also is attracted to a traffic reporter at work. He says all the time that if there was an opportunity with that woman, he would jump at the chance. He constantly says that he really thinks his girlfriend is a sweet and nice person, but doesn't have a heck of a lot in common with her. |
