Default "Mini Munsters"

Does anyone remember the 1970s animated version of THE MUNSTERS, "Mini
Munsters," which aired on ABC's SATURDAY SUPERSTAR MOVIE series on
Saturday morning? It featured the voices of Richard Long (as Herman) and Al
Lewis (as Grandpa).

I have actually never seen it, but I have done a lot of research on it. At the Toon Tracker site on the Superstar Movies page there are a few pics there. It looks very interesting.

Richard Long (BOURBON ST. BEAT, THE BIG VALLEY, NANNY & THE PROFESSOR)
seemed like an odd choice for Herman--but he did manage to sound like Fred
Gwynne! I think Al Lewis was the only member of the original cast to come
aboard for this cartoon. I haven't seen it since it first aired. Unfortunately, that was back in the pre-VCR age.

I've also seen it when it first aired, haven't seen since then either. I don't remember what any of the shows were about, but I do remember seeing it though. Saturday superstar movies was my favorite series, use to watch it every week. Wish they'd bring them to dvd.

I have a couple of them on video tape. I manage to find "Popeye Meets the
Man Who Hated Laughter" (featuring a slew of King Features comic strip
characters) and "The Banana Splits in Hocus Pocus Park" (the only time the
Splits ever appeared in cartoon form) from this dealer: D.C. Hollis, P.O. Box 65,
Mt. Tabor, N.J. 07878. If you write to his address, he can send you more
info. His catalog is 80+ pages and has lots of rare TV shows. In fact, I just
noticed that he also has "Mini-Munsters" and some other SATURDAY SUPERSTAR
MOVIES incl. "Gidget Makes the Wrong Connection," "Lassie and the Rescue Rangers"
(pilot for the series), "Lost in Space," "Nanny and the Professor," "Robin Hoodnik,"
"Tabitha, Adam and the Clown Family" (from BEWITCHED), and "The Mad, Mad, Mad
Monsters."

I got my copy on www.coolstuffvideos.com on this page: http://www.coolstuffvideos.com/cartoons4.html

The tape with The Mini-Munsters is item #459 and there is ordering info at the bottom of the webpage. My site has some screenshots from the video: http://www.freehomepages.com/munster...imunsters.html . It costs $18 including postage on the Cool Stuff Videos site, so if you're a completist I'd say it's worth it, just don't expect the quality to be magnificient (especially plotwise )

Cool pix. The only thing about the show that I remembered was that Herman
(for some reason) had blond hair.

I bought a lot from Coolstuff before, they're pretty good to go through. There's this place called Time Tunnel and they have several dvd's of rare shows that are 15 bucks a piece. I got The Banana Splits show with The Arabian Knights and Three Musketeers.
