Have any of you ever thought that a certain S.O. member was a certain sex, and found out later that the person was actually the opposite sex of what you thought?? This has happened to me many times, usually over a username. For example, there use to be a member named Kitt, and I always assumed he was female, because for some reason, I always identified the name Kitt with the Lori Petty character from A League of Their Own.
There are other members here who I always assumed were either male or female, and turned out to be the opposite of what I thought, but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so I won't mention names. Personally, Iv'e had many people who Iv'e chatted with online who initially assumed I was a female, because of, as a couple have said, my sensitive nature, so I really never took it personally. Infact, I always looked at it as a compliment. |

In 2003, there was a handwriting thread that was circulating the board pretty heavily, and he contributed a scan of his handwriting...looked just like a girl's. So for the LONGEST time, I thought he was a girl.

I've had the problem of thinking a few members were of a different sex than they actually were. I can't remember the last time I did, though. After doing it 3 or 4 times I started checking before I said "Him" or "her" or whatever when responding to a post...Haha. |

I am glad I am not the only one who thought all this. In the profile section it would be great if you could have your gender there.

Yep, it's happened to me a few times.
I agree. It is embarrassing. What makes it difficult, as someone mentioned, was their username and sometimes their avatar. The avatar image depends if they've used it for a long time.
