Default Batman: Complete Series on...7 DVDs????

A website called favorite shows on DVD.com is offering the entire Batman TV series on seven DVDs for $35.95.

That averages to about 17 episodes per disc. Even at dual-layer capacity, how on earth did he compress 120 episodes onto seven discs? One season I could see fitting on seven discs - particularly the first two. But the whole friggin' series??

This looks too good to be true and it probably is.

I still don't understand how they can cram that many episodes onto a single disc. How's the quality??

Question

It'd be better if they were uncut and complete with all original scenes...

Otherwise, I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot Batpole.

There are two much better 29 disc DVD sets floating about.

One claims to be from "Studio Masters" and was actually created from VHS tapes professionally produced in 1988 of uncut episodes exclusively for the makers of the 1989 Batman film. Decent VHS quality with very few glitches, no station logos on the picture, and the episodes even contain the "In Color" cards at the head of the episodes and the rarely seen "Next Week's Villian" promos near the end of the episodes.

The second is a higher quality uncut set digitally recorded from TV Land Canada just a few years ago that includes very professional looking menus with music. Two minor drawbacks to this set are...

1) No "In Color" cards or "Next Weeks Villian" promos.

2) The TV Land logo appears in the bottom right corner of the screen during the episodes. In this case, however, this is all it is. A single logo. Not like TV Land in the US where during the program you get not only the logo, but a promo for the show you're watching, the show coming on next, and a promo for next week's programming.

Until we get an official release of Batman on DVD it looks like these are the two best sets out there.

How can these be obtained?

It's too bad that there's not a legit release of this series.

I have a 10 dvd set, uncut, from the studio masters, I got on I-offer.com. Plus another set of 4 dvds that includes Holy Batmania!, The 1966 Batman movie, and the Return To The Batcave special.

Its the best "bootleg" tv series that I own.

That's great that you got the Batman series set, but those last three titles are legitimate DVD releases. Let's at least support any official Batman TV product that's out there by buying the real DVDs and not copies of them.

But the problem is that there hasn't been any official release of the Batman TV show, so fans are forced to buy bootlegs. By the time they release one (if that ever happens), it may be too late, as physical media (DVDs, Blu-ray) is said to be dying.

Well, they all came as one set. I see your point, though.
