Lightbulb "SOer Interview of the Week" Idea?

Okay, I "borrowed" this cool idea from a forum I frequent. People who were interested in wanting to participate in being interviewed and answer questions from fellow forumers got their chance to have an entire thread for a week. How about that idea here? For instance, when a name is picked for a certain week, anybody can ask questions, and the person answers them. How about that for SO? What do you think?

Ohhh, I think that sounds like a WONDERFUL idea!!!

And, if I'm allowed to do this, I nominate sweadace for the first week, since she's the one who brought such a great idea to SO in the first place!

Wow... I posted this thread just before I got off of work (I was subbing an Adobe InDesign class), and I just got home and found replies! Awesome!

Cathy, yes, everyone who is interested can post in this thread. Then, all interested names are raffled and their own thread will be created every Monday morning. I would like to be part of the raffle as well, so would anyone have a problem if I raffled the names? Unless, someone who isn't interested in participating can volunteer to raffle names every Monday morning and create the thread. The only thing is that if someone volunteers, then they'd have to really be "on top" of doing it. Otherwise, I volunteer to raffle the names.

Another thing is that I would need the help of a frequent moderator to help me "close" the thread after the last question(s) are already answered after that person's end of the week, since I do not have the moddy rights.

I found this a cool thing because we get to know more about other SOers we never knew beforehand. Who else is interested?

Irene, I guess we could do it alphabetically, but I would think that it makes much more "anticipating" (is that a real word?) if it's like a "surprise" to see who's name is chosen. I don't know.

What does everyone else think about how the names should be chosen? A raffle or alphabetically? Shall I make this thread a poll? I don't think I've ever created a poll, so would I have to do it by editing my first post in this thread?

I am sorry, I didn't even notice "raffling" in the previous posts. That is a good idea. I like the surprise.
