Default When did those goofy contractions start?

You know like Zendall, Jolie, Jasam, and by far the worst sounding one Soily(sounds like someone had an accident in their shorts). Just curious what couple started this trend? I don't remember Luke & Laura being called Luau.

It all started in the 90s with GUIDING LIGHT's Josh and Reva, named Jeva. It snowballed, and other GL couples got their own names (GusH for Gus and Harley, for example). Then it spilled to the other soaps, especially DAYS.

But god forbid the media recognize the couple names as a soap thing. They think that it all started with TomKat.

It has been going on FOR YEARS since at least the late-80's in the Soap Magazines... Than when the internet took off in the 90's it became a bigger thing.

The mainstream media has recently stolen this soap opera slang and started using it for their own use with celeb couples like Bennifer, TomKat, Brangelina and so on.

There's some good ones in there!

I wonder if fans would have been doing this in the 70's if we would have seen names like "Dulie" (Doug and Julie)?

I wonder what they would have done for Luke & Laura other than just L&L?

Personally, I think it's stupid! But my opinion obviously doesn't count.
