Hollywood Celebrities who have NEVER DIVORCED?

In light of the most recent separation and likely divorce between Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe, one is left to wonder how sacred marriages are nowadays. Despite the high divorce rates nowadays, I still believe that divorce is extremely bad and shameful. Call me traditional or conservative, but I have my reasons for thinking the way I do. My parents have been married for 35 years, both sets of grandparents long exceeded their golden anniversaries at 55+ years, and there is not a single divorce among anyone in my large extended family. So the question begs asking, why is it that some large families like mine and those of my closest friends can work out their issues and keep their marital vows by staying together until death, while others cannot and must divorce?

I have a lot of respect for married Hollywood celebrities who are still together with their first and only spouse. You cannot find many actors and actresses who have never divorced before. But I have compiled this list of married actors and actresses who have never divorced in their lifetimes:

Actors who have never divorced

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger
2. Sam Neill
3. Billy Crystal (good example, married since 1970)
4. Jackie Chan
5. Matthew Broderick
6. Michael J. Fox
7. Bob Hope (best example, married from 1934 until his death)

Actresses who have never divorced

1. Meryl Streep (perhaps best example, married since 1978)
2. Rene Russo
3. Jennifer Grey
4. Lea Thompson
5. Gates McFadden
6. Marina Sirtis
7. Gong Li

Can you add to this list? I would like to impose two conditions:

1. As mentioned before, the person must be in their first and only marriage.
2. The current marriage is at least three years long.

So in other words, Sandra Bullock has not divorced, but her marriage is still too short at less than a year.

Tom Hanks does not fit the list as he has divorced before and is with his second wife:

Well to me, a divorce is a divorce is a divorce, regardless of how long ago it was. I have a lot of respect for those who did not make the mistake of marrying the wrong person earlier in life.

Well being a divorced person (to save my mental mind as well as my life) I have an understanding that one can never know if the person they marry is their soul mate. You hope and pray you make the right decision with what you know. I am not defending stupid people like Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Taylor, people who take marriage lightly, I am talking abt those who had their reasons for divorcing. Some people divorce due to abuse (mental, physical, verbal) drug use, alcohol abuse, etc. So, not everyone has the pleasure of only marrying once in their life. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but i am sure there are alot of celebrities that had damn good reasons for divorce.

I agree with that. I do not by any means feel that marriage should be taken lightly, either, but you have to understand that people end up in situations where they didn't make the best decision or the person they married has changed for the bad. I think it's worse to stay in something where you are being abused in anyway and let the wrong continue, than to take an action to end it and start over new. I understand most celebrities do not take marriage seriously, but I'm sure there are a few that did have good reasons, like Irene said.
