Default Was anyone else entertained by Mr. Gaines on this show

Once again, I love irritable and easily annoyed TV characters and always looked forward to seeing him each week. Mr. Gaines was a riot. The man with a consistent irritible look on his face-lol

You've seen them both on Good Times. His wife was Sweet Daddy's girlfriend who didn't like JJ's painting of her and Larry's mother on Florida's Favorite Passenger. Mr. Gaines' son was played by T.K. Carter who was JJ's friend "Head"

Yes it was just added to our cable lineup. I have to check the schedule, the only thing I been looking at lately on Oxygen is Living Single. I think ADW comes on in the morning and the early evening

I think the first time they showed Mr Gaines they also showed his wife. That was in season 2. I think she was the one who owned the building where Dwayne lived. After season 2 they didn't show her again until Dwayne and Whitley's wedding, then she appeared in the En Vogue episode and Cabin In the Sky in season 6. TK Carter played the son in that last episode. Actually the idea of those characters spinning off into their own series is not so far fetched. I think it would've worked better than the proposed spinoff with Billy Dee Williams and Leslie Uggams.

I love watching T.K. Carter. He was great in every acting role in his career

Default Mr. Gaines

He was the straight up O.G. of funny supporting characters.

I've noticed in some episodes at the Pit, he seemed to be hovering around LISTENING IN ON OTHER PEOPLES' CONVERSATIONS. I was like "Man, Mr. Gaines is so nosy!"

But his stories and rants are a riot. And he even cared about the characters enough to give them good sound advice when they didn't need it which was always helpful. I liked how he stood up for Tisha Campbell's Character in that AIDS episode. Mr. Gaines was the man with the plan. If he didn;t care, he wouldn't be helping Kim out or even Ron with his club. That was a curmudgeon with a heart.

Lou Myers (Mr. Gaines) is semi-retired now and about 6 months out of the year, he lives with his mother (who is up in her 90s) in Charleston, WV- just 10 minutes from where I live. He was born and grew up around here. Back when A Different World was still on, he had a huge house built for her and bought her several nice cars, which she still has. Mrs. Myers gets around really good for someone her age. I pass by her house several times a week and last week I saw Lou out on the front porch talking to somebody. Whenever I see him somewhere, I always call him "Mr. Gaines" to his face and he doesn't seem to mind Really nice guy and just as funny as Mr. Gaines lol

That's what I call good acting. I've always hated it when something would be going on in a TV show, and the background actors are in their own little worlds, not paying attention to the action. In the real world, if a conversation or something would be loud and/or juicy, people do act nosy! Good job to Lou Myers.

To whoever upthread...Kim wasn't Mr. Gaines' buddy...she was like the daughter he never had.
