![]() Working on my new Kotter set and was looking for some opinions on how to list the episodes in the set. If I follow the Episode guides which are by air-date, the order doesn't make sense some times. For example the pilot episode (Welcome Back) is listed third on the episode guides but if you go by Production #, it should be the first episode (#100). This happens with a lot of shows and I'm wondering how would you handle it? By air-date or by production # ? Original Episode # Prod # Air Date Episode Title _____ ______ _________ ___________ ___________________________________________ 1st Season 1975 1- 1 104 9 Sep 75 The Great Debate 1- 2 102 16 Sep 75 Basket Case 1- 3 100 23 Sep 75 Welcome Back (pilot) 1- 4 103 30 Sep 75 Whodunit? 1- 5 101 7 Oct 75 The Election 1- 6 105 14 Oct 75 No More Mr. Nice Guy 1- 7 107 21 Oct 75 Classroom Marriage 1- 8 106 28 Oct 75 One of Our Sweathogs Is Missing 1- 9 108 4 Nov 75 Mr. Kotter, Teacher 1-10 110 18 Nov 75 The Reunion 1-11 109 25 Nov 75 Barbarino's Girl 1-12 111 2 Dec 75 California Dreamin' 1-13 112 16 Dec 75 Arrividerci, Arnold 1-14 114 6 Jan 76 The Longest Weekend 1-15 113 13 Jan 76 The Sit-in 1-16 116 20 Jan 76 Follow the Leader (1) 1-17 117 22 Jan 76 Follow the Leader (2) 1-18 115 29 Jan 76 Dr. Epstein, I Presume 1-19 118 5 Feb 76 One Flu Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1-20 119 12 Feb 76 The Telethon 1-21 120 19 Feb 76 Kotter Makes Good 1-22 121 26 Feb 76 Father Vinnie |

this happens in lots of sets
even the factory release of earth 2 has one epsiode far out of makeing sense order no matter which way its handled, with the nice menus, the viewer can watch what ever way they choose |

is to edit the set so it makes the most sense
FOR INSTANCE I would put the pilot episode first, BUT then follow up the episode guide as long as it makes sense I have had similar problems putting together some sets for instance on GIMME A BREAK the ep guide made no sense, as for some reason they aired certain episodes with characters that HAD NOT BEEN INTRODUCED YET before the episode that introduced them! So i juggled it around a little to make sense just my 2 cents worth, if anyone cares

i say skip every 5 episode and place an abbott and costello cartoon,... LOL
Joker you sure do some great work .... production # seems to be best ofcourse,... eventhough most people who watch that show will be high from the wacky tobakky to even notice the order. what was i talking about again ? ohh ,.. yeah ,.... i love "38 DD's". take care !!! |

I always like to go by air date, but that's just my preference. There really is no right or wrong answer. As for your menu, it looks great, but I think you may be missing the comma in Welcome Back, Kotter.

I also prefer original air date order. I'm not an expert on Welcome Back Kotter, but how is the show aired in syndication? By production order or original airdate order? Is the pilot also the 3rd episode in syndication? Maybe the producers felt the pilot episode wasn't good enough, so they decided to start the series with a stronger episode. I noticed the same thing while transferring my "Here's Lucy" tapes to dvd, that there are 2 different numbering systems for this show, too. I chose to put it in original broadcast order, the way it was originally shown.

Which way makes more sense chronologically?
I would definitely go with the pilot first. But the rest really depends on how the timeline works. Most people unless they are geeks like us don't really remember how they were aired so they wouldn't notice anyway. Where chronologically they might say "huh? Who is that" |
