wrong? Do you think it's just normal for a doctor not to rush and call you with test results when everything came back fine? I had a situation where I was tested for diabetes, and my cholestrol level and was waiting by the phone for weeks only to find out that everything was fine. Would it bother u if your doctor didn't call u when your tests came back fine?

If they didn't tell me they were not going to call if everything turned out fine, yes, I would be pissed. I'd be calling them and bugging them for my results. When I went to the dermatologist, they told me specifically that they'd only call if something was wrong, so that was nice. Some nurses and doctors though...I know they get busy, but damn, playing phone tag with them is a pain in the ass.

I have been lucky. I have doctors that call either way. Or they have their assistants call. As a matter of fact, over the xmas holidays, my teen daughter went to the doctor for one reason, the doctor called later that day (she is great, she always calls HERSELF!) and informed me she didn't like the results of my daughters' urine analysis and we went back ASAP and she ran tests on her and found that she is type 2 diabetes. I am so glad for you Retro it wasn't anything, but you are still owed a phone call from someone.

Working at a clinic, I am always getting calls from people, some slightly irate, that they can't get ahold of a nurse or doctor. For us receptionists, it would be nice if the doctors would tell the patients either way whether or not to expect a call, and how long results might take.

When I went to the gyno back in May I also got some blood work done to check things and they told me theyd let me know if anything came back, and if not I wouldnt get contacted. Its nice that they told me that, but Id still feel better if I had gotten a letter with the test results back.

I think doctors should call you regardless of your test results. It doesn't make sense to leave their patients hanging, but that's just my opinion.

I'd prefer a call either way. I do get a letter from my doctor with negative results. She tells me if anything is wrong, that she'll call me.
Of course, if she ever calls when I'm awaiting test results, I'll have a heart attack when I hear her voice.

I nkow at one of my doctors, when I have test done, they say fit he tests are fine they send a little post card in the mail... if something "needs to be discussed further" they give you a call. So I think that's alrigt. But yea, if they ddin't tell me either way, i'd be upset. |

I think doctors should only call back if something is wrong. I remember a few years ago I went in to get a blood test because I had a light-headed episode one morning and fell to the floor, didn't lose consciousness though, and my dad was concerned about me, so he wanted me to go to a doctor. Anyway, after a few days, the people called me to tell me a mistake had been made in the lab. Not sure what happened in their lab, but I went back to get another blood test done and I hate needles. Everything came back fine, though. Turned out the doctor thought it could have been a pre-menstrual thing. But, whatever the case, I've been fine and haven't had another light-headed episode since.
