Default Will you rewatch season 1 to prep for season 2?

I will, mainly because I only watched the season 1 set once, and that was when I bought it the day it came out. Seeing how it's been nearly a year and a half, it's been awhile. So since season 2 is less than 4 weeks away, it's a good time to check out season 1 again.

I've rewatched certain episodes here and there (like I watched the 2-parter with Hello Larry just a few weeks ago), but it might be fun to watch the entire season in order again

I've just about finished the first disc. I was thinking about just skipping the Christmas two-parter. But watching all the others so far definitely have me pumped up for the season 2 set.

Me too, Vashti. I'm rewatching the S1 set, and am skipping the Christmas episode as well. Frankly, I found that episode to be annoying, what with all those flashbacks to eps I had just seen. Doubly annoying, is the fact that parts 1 & 2 are on different discs. Triply annoying, is the fact that syndication prints are used for the episode.

I found the Christmas 2-parter pointless considering the show was less than two months old at that point. I know some shows do "retrospective" episodes after maybe 3, 4, 5 or 6 seasons, when they've had enough episodes to reflect back on, but one hour (minus maybe 5 minutes of the Drummonds talking and reflecting back) on the first 7 episodes is overly excessive.

Unless this was like the specials ABC has aired for Lost, Grey's Anatomy and twice for Desperate Housewives, to catch new fans up on the entire series? I know that DS was an unexpected hit for NBC in 1978 so the Christmas episode made sense in a way to attract new fans by letting them know the whole story up to that point, although IMO DS was never like the aforementioned ABC shows where each episode segues into one another so you might need a course to catch you up.

The only highlight of season 1 is the Hello Larry crossover. Other than that, nothing-lol

You meant lowlight right? The Hello Larry crossover?? I haven't gotten to that yet rewatching it, but all the other episodes I've watched so far are great!

I disagree, the Drummonds went to Portland Oregon to visit the Alders and it was very interesting, It was a nice switch up from the Penthouse on Park avenue.

Anyone remember if there were any references to Larry (Hello Larry) on Diff'rent Strokes after the "Trip" two-parter from season 1?

yep, season 2 also contains a two-part Hello Larry crossover, but I don't think there are any more Hello Larry mentions again on DS after HL ended in 1980

I know-lol, Too bad it didn't work. Silver Spoons only needed one crossover with Dffrent Strokes to do well in the Ratings not 3.
