Etta Smith

Do you remember the 1995 segment about Etta Smith? She was the woman whose psychic powers led her to the body of a murdered nurse. She had so many accurate details about the 1980 murder that she became a suspect, and was arrested. She was cleared when a couple of kids confessed to the murder.

The murder in question was the focus of an episode of Psychic Detectives, which airs on Court TV. The episode, entitled "A Psychic Roadmap", features an interview with Etta Smith.

Watching an old English TV show a story about a psychic it seemed familiar and it turns out it's the story of Etta Smith finding the murdered nurse, personally I think she was just lucky as I don't believe in Psychics but if anyone is interested they should search for Strange But True S02E09 Pt1 on a popular video sharing site.

My guess is she just got lucky and found a body jogging and used the coincidence to springboard a psychic career.

Nope, the perpetrators apparently shot their mouth off about it round the area & either she heard it directly or heard it from somebody else. It wasn't even her that found the body, but one of her children.

She had actually been to the police station to say she had this psychic vision & pointed out where the body would be on the map, then she ludicrously decided to take her kids there & coming out the cops turned up. She didn't launch a career at all, she sued the police for 750k, but the jury seemingly unimpressed with her story awarded her 26k for lost earnings & legal fees.
