One time he performed a skit in his office as a TV personality trying to explain what comedy was. It involved him getting his tie stuck in a desk, cutting himself with a knife, stepping in a trashcan, etc. I can't find the episode's name. Any ideas?

I am a Middle School Principal and our school does a "Show" at the end of the year. That was one skit I distinctly remember as being funny, but I don't remember how long it was (if it would be worth doing for the kids.) I am torn between doing something from the Dick Van Dyke show or a skit from the old Bob Newhart stage routine. (Driving instructor, etc.)

Both are great sketches. That is going to be a hard decision to make

You can't go wrong with either sketch, but that TDVDS lecture on comedy makes me laugh out loud every time I see it!

How long (time wise) is that little skit in that episode?
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of that portion of the script? I think I like the humor/pain thing, the middle schools will love it. |

A bit of trivia about the sketch on physical comedy; I was recently looking at an old tape I have, produced by Good Time video about comedians; primarily their first or early tv appearences. One segment shows DVD doing that same sketch in a different setting (I don't know which show,) but the sketch is preceeded by a clip from a Three Stooges short. Also, at the point in the sketch where his foot is supposed to go through the seat of the chair, DVD has to really force his foot through it. I guess the prop guy didn't make it as break-a-way as he was supposed to.
Just something I thought I'd mention. |
