hell, while talking about bad cinema. A few days ago, I found "Goddess Of Love" with Vanna White and David Naughton (what a far cry from "An American Werewolf In London") on DVD in a cheapie $2.99 bin.

It was a really campy tv movie that was made in the late 80's when Vanna was at the top of her Wheel Of Fortune popularity. Unlike most tv movies, it was a comedy. She played Venus, who awakens from statue form when a soon to be married hairstylist (played by Naughton) puts a ring on her finger. HBO used to air this a lot in the early 1990's and being around 10-11, I loved the movie. Now as a 26 year old, I had to pick it up because I knew it would make great fun camp cinema.

What can I say, Vanna's acting is so stiff and wooden that she makes Madonna on her worst day look like Meryl Streep. You wonder what the hell was Little Richard thinking signing up for this movie, and if then-tv stars Amanda Bearse (Married With Children) and David Leisure (Empty Nest) had "crap tv movie quotas per season" in their contracts.

It's a cross between Xanadu and Mannequin, two other camp 80's classics.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who remembers this. I mentioned it to a few other lovers of bad cinema and none of them knew such a film existed. It's fun and it's laughably bad, yet easy to watch, for a bargain-priced DVD it's worth a try if you can handle it.

i vaguely remember it - and from THAT, i dont think that i would be willing to part with $2.99 for the laughs
