Very interesting. Well hopefully they'll throw some old and rare ones on the Ultimate Edition instead of the mainly newer ones like on the previous dvd sets. $129.99 MSRP, wow......must be a lot of disks.

Holy CRAP!!!
The Ultimate Edition is SO mine---unless it repeats everything already included in the previous sets. Why spend $90-100 bucks when you can get the individual sets for 19.99? The "Best Of" set seems interesting, but unless it covers 1988-93, it's not really a "best of" set. I'm sure it'll have Resurrection Mary, the Cokeville Wyoming School Bomb Miracle, and the Exploding Church on it. But again, I'm only speculating. I honestly thought they would not release any more sets, but this is one time I am GLAD to be wrong!! I bet the originals started selling better when they dropped the price (they started around $50, now Best Buy and DeepdiscountDvd have them for under $20)--which led to this. BRAVO! Bring on the specs! |

I e-mailed First Look Media asking for more info. I'll post it here if I get a response.

This is great news! Im very curious also about how these sets are going to turn out and what segments will be included, I just hope that previous segments that were included on the 6 sets won't be present on the new discs because i wouldnt want to pay for something i already have. Can't wait to hear more about this!!

WOW... I think I have my birthday present now.
I hope it's got a lot of new stuff and classic old segments they didn't include in the original sets.

Will the Ultimate Edition be all of the previous sets combined or will this be all new episodes and hopefully some pre-stack episodes? The sets must have sold well for them to release more sets.

Robbie, I'm hoping and praying that the ultimate edition will be segments that have not been released yet. I mean, whats the point of rushing out to buy a set that will retail for around $100, if it contained the previous releases that now only cost around $20. Just keep your fingers crossed, I know I am!

From what I know about the UM boxed sets, I don't think they sold very well, but I do think that the die-hard UM fans have spoken and stated that they wanted more of everything. (I don't know about you guys, but I was very disappointed by the Bizarre Murders DVD set.) It's my guess that even though the boxed sets didn't sell very well, they listened to the fans and are releasing the Ultimate Edition and "Best of" set because of negative fan feedback.

Great! I am rather optimistic about this. I had e-mailed FLM and while they said that they had no future plans to release other sets, the possibility was always there. I guess we can be happy knowing that our wishes are being fullfilled. All it takes is patience and persistance, as fans must have kept up with the requests for more.
Anyway I am optimistic b/c I feel that this woll not included any stuff from the sets that have already been published. Why would they merely rehash everything that they have put out already? I think that this set will included unreleased stories from topics already covered that still could be covere more(UFO's and ghosts don't really have any other stories to put out on DVD, but there are plenty of bizzare murders that could have been on the set that were not) as well as stories from topics not yet put into catagorized sets like fugitives and missing persons. If the stories from the previous boxsets are not included on this collection set, that people who want the stories from the current 6 sets will wish to go out and buy them ASAP, so that could increase the sales. To have it all you must buy it all. Thanks for the news, a great way to kick off the new year. Hope your 2005 was great. |

That's great news - considering I emailed First Look back in August regarding the release of subsequent UM volumes and they wrote back with:
Thanks very much for your interest in Unsolved Mysteries. Unfortunately, we have no plans at the moment to release any future volumes of Unsolved Mysteries. While the possibility still remains, it is not a part of our current or immediate future plans. I hope I’ve answered your question, and thanks again. - so perhaps our interest was enough to convince them otherwise! |

Some of the stories I hope they include:
Tami Leppert's dissappearance Tracy Kirkpatrick's Murder Tina Resch's telekinesis L'enfant stalks a former Beuruit prisoner Bomb nearly kills a Navy captain's wife but was maybe intended for him Man jumps onto a moving airplane and falls from it at peak altitude |
