Default Did you watch The Brady Bunch Kids cartoon when it aired?

I watched it a few times, but I couldn't get into it. I needed to see them in real-life, not as a cartoon.

I've never seen it, but I'd love to. They should think about releasing them on DVD or at least a few epsiodes as a bonus feature on the next season set of DVDs.

Yep... watched it as a kid on Saturday mornings back in 1972 and 1973. Some of the story lines were really out there (especially with the kids interacting with martians, Euclid in ancient Greece, The Lone Ranger and Tonto, Superman and Wonder Woman among others), no mention of the parents and with them apparently living in their treehouse. And let's not forget Mop-Top the dog, Marlon the Magic Mynah Bird and Ping and Pong, the Chinese-speaking pandas! Pattern everything after The Archies and you've got one seriously whacked cartoon! (You gotta love how they incorporated it into the "Tripping with the Bradys" sequence in A VERY BRADY SEQUEL though!!!)

I watched it when it first aired too and I like it alot. Some of the shows were out there, but then again it was a cartoon so no big deal. That crazy Marlon was my favorite character.

Actually, I saw the cartoon BEFORE ever seeing the original series. It was OK.
as Filmation cartoons go. (Not my favorite studio. Never especially liked their
"cooky-cutter" approach to animation. Even the ARCHIE show, although I did
watch it (mostly for the music).)

I remember seeing the Brady Kids in Saturday Morning reruns in Canada during the late 70s. I was too young to realize that it was even more inane than the series. They would perform a song in a band in every show just like the Partridge Family and had the stupid superhero plots with the Lone Ranger, Wonder Woman, and Superman. I also remember the character of Chuck White, a boy Greg's age who was both a bully and teaze.

Not only that, but how about the "friends" they hung around with: Fleetwood, the guy with shaggy blond hair and a headband, always wore a blue and white tank top and said "man" all the time (he also shook back and forth a lot while he walked); Babs, the red-haired girl who always wore a purplish dress and her hair in a bun; and Chuck, the wise guy who always wore brown pants and a green shirt and always tried to cause trouble with the Brady kids. (Ok, now I'm starting to scare myself!!!)

I don't remember watching the show when it first aired, at least not often, and that puzzled me later on, considering that I was somewhat of a fan of the Friday night sitcom. I didn't figure out until later that the most likely reason why is that its first season it aired at 10:30 AM ET, when I was watching The Barkleys on NBC. I also remember being a fan of Underdog, which was in its last year of airing on NBC Saturday mornings, just before The Barkleys.

I don't think I ever watched that one... I remember when it was on, I may have had it on once or twice to check it out, but I thought it looked really stupid...

I think I was getting too old for Saturday Morning Cartoons at that time as well (I would have been 12 in 1972)... The cartoons I grew up watching were pretty much gone by then (although you're NEVER too old for Bugs Bunny and those great Warner Bros cartoons), and the extra characters (I remember the Panda's, but not much else) were just so unnecessary...

After seeing the real Marcia on Friday night, who cares about a cartoon Marcia on Saturday morning? Just not the same... (Jan hadn't 'blossomed' yet, but was still a cutie in season 3)

Anyway, I wouldn't have seen the cartoon more than once or twice, but didn't care for it at all...and I wouldn't buy them on DVD either...
