Originally produced as a possible mid-season replacement on the WB network for the 2004/2005 television season, it was pulled from the schedule when producer/writer Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) quite over creative differences. What is left is a great one-shot piece of television history directed with theatrical quality by Hong Kong action director, John Woo.
Set in the year 2097 after Earth's first intergalactic war, the story follows Col. John Robinson and Dr, Maureen Robinson as they move their family to the farming colony of Nova. When the colony ship is attacked by aliens, the Robinson are the only family to escape the ship's destruction, but only after losing one of the family. Only the superior piloting skills of Col. Robinson and Maj. Don West save the short-range transport pod, Jupiter 2, from destruction. Taking the only option for escape, they become...lost in space! _______________________________________________________________ I have this dvd and it's not even close to the original, they once again changed the storyline. No wonder it didn't make it to television. Changes: This time they have three children, but this time an older son, Judy, and Will. The eldest son gets killed off, will is like the Will in the movie and makes his own Robot which doesn't even resemble of who we know as The Robot. Judy and Don are much younger, the actor who plays John Robinson was a good choice and should have been in the movie instead of William Hurt. I got this copy on Ebay. |
