I was reading a science article about the possibility of recreating extinct animals through their DNA in fossils. The animal in particular was the dodo bird. It has been extinct since 1663.
![]() I think it would be kinda cool to recreate the dodo bird. I remember I used to be very fascinated of this extinct dodo bird since I was a kid. It would be cool to see it for this bird in particular, but.... I don't know about ALL the other extinct animals. Some may have been endangered or even dangerous since their extinct days. I don't know how it all look like if science one day went ahead with this once it has been found a way in doing it. What do you think? I found this article on Google news, by the way. i too was fascinated by the dodo as a kid, but I dont know if it would be a good idea to bring them back; it could potentially unbalance the ecology of wherever you decided to put them - plus they'd probably just crap all over the place.

Dinosaurs: bad idea. (Didn't we learn anything from "JURASSIC PARK"?)
But, seriously, I think that time would be better spent trying to save the species that are endangered right now. There is still time for them. |

I wish I could have one as a pet, too. I don't think I would ride around on it, though. If I did have one it would probably just wander out of my yard and get hit by a car, though. I mean, where does the name do-do come from, anyway? If anything had been a dodo in a past life it was probably my dog who wandered out of the yard and would run to the dog catcher who would take him to the pound. I think it would be cool if there were still dodo birds around, though. |

I recall the time
They found those fossilized mosquitoes And before long, they were cloning DNA Now, I'm being chased by some Irate velociraptors, well, believe me, This has been one lousy day Jurrasic park is frightning in the dark All the dinosaurs are running wild Someone shut the fence off in the rain I admit it's kinda eerie But this proves my Chaos Theory And I don't think I'll be coming back again Oh noooo! I cannot approve of this attraction 'Cause getting disembowled Always makes me kinda mad A huge Tyrannosaurus ate our lawyer Well I suppose that proves They're really not all bad. Jurrasic park is frightning in the dark all the dinosaurs are running wild Someone let T-rex out of his pen. I'm afraid those things will harm me Cause they sure don't act like Barney And they think that I'm their dinner Not their friend Oh nooo! Jurrasic park is frightning in the dark All the dinosaurs are running wild What a crummy weekend this has been. Well, this sure ain't no E-ticket Think I'll tell them where to stick it 'Cause I'm never coming back this way, again! Oh nooo!!! whoooaahh nooooo! |

Yes, it's a good idea. Before 1880 there were billions of passenger pigeons in North America, but it was so overhunted for food and plumage that it was declared extinct in 1914. If we could find and manipulate passenger pigeon DNA somehow, we should bring that bird back too!
We should only bring back, if possible, animals we killed off. Most species disppear on their own, and they disappear at a rate of 25 a day regardless of what we do. That is, even if we stopped killing species and destroying their habitats tomorrow, they'd continue to to disappear at a rate of 25 a day. So keep that in mind. |
