Last nite when we went to Mikes brothers we went to look at the Christmas lights display that this old Puertorican guy in that subdivsion puts out every yr. When we stopped to view them he came up to us to say hi. We told him we liked the lights & Feliz Navidad. He thought I was Puertorican cuz I said that & started talking in Spanish to me lol. I had to explain I wasn't & the only Spanish I knew what what I learned from watching CATM. He asked if I liked Jose Feliciano remembering him being on the show. I said yeah I liked him just fine. Mike said Feliz Navidad to him & cuz of that & Mike having dark hair he thought Mike was Puertorican lol. Sometimes Hispanics think he's one of them lol. He told us that he can't add anymore lights than what he's got to his display cuz it would overload the breaker. I wonder if Freddie loved lights like that? I bet he did & really decorated outside with them...
Not too long after this I heard the song Feliz Navidad by cousin Pepe (Jose Feliciano) on the radio lol. I need to take a pic of his lights on & post it here...Feliz Navidad!!!!

That's great Cheryl! I too learned alot of spanish from watching CATM, along with a few phrases and slang from my husband, coworkers and some special spanish from Mando.
I love this time of year seeing the festivities from other cultures

Yeah every yr he has the lights out. Folks around the neighborhood call him Feliz Navidad lol. He had a daughter & son who were around my age. She was a real ***** lol. Tried to start a fight with me & one of my friends cussing me out back when I was in jr high & I had to tell her to shut her bleep mouth up lol. Later after she started dating Arnold Daye she started acting nice to me. Go figure. I acted nice to her but kept one eye open if ya know what I mean. His son was nice. Anyway I'd like to go back & see his lights again...

I have some really good friends who are Puerto Rican and we go over their house for La Posadas every Christmas Eve. They are all very musical and play and sing traditional PR music. When I sit in their living room, listening to the music and them speaking in spanish to each other, I can't help but think of Freddie and the holiday celebrations his family must have had growing up. It always puts a smile on my face even tho I don't understand much of what they say. My friend Marian Diaz always has to translate for me. She was born in the Bronx but her husband was born on the island of PR. Marian's parents were from PR too. Both sides of the family live near New Haven CONN now, but they still keep their traditions.
Some of them come down to WV for the holidays.
