Cool Marcia Brady...My First TV Crush

When I was eight years old, I looked at Marcia Brady (Maureen McCormick) a different way. I just knew that I wanted to be with her. No, not in that way - I was still a few years away from the hormones kicking in - but there was something about her that I really liked.

I realize now that Marcia Brady was my first TV crush. Kind of stupid, but it was the first of many. She would later be replaced by Marie Osmond, Charlie's Angels and many others. But you never forget your first TV crush.

Many years later, some punk band came out with a song that had the lyrics "I got my First Boner Watching Marcia Brady On A Black & White TV," so I guess I wasn't the only one. Had I been born two or three years earlier, that probably would have been the case with me as well.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!

My first TV Crush was Jan Brady. I was about 8 or 9 too. I wonder how many other people had crushes on members of the Brady Bunch?

Merry Christmas Dr. Thong

If I developed my first crush around the time of Free Willy, I would have had a painfully slow developmental process.

I do remember that Pamelyn Ferdin appeared in some Odd Couple eps--now that you mention it I do anyway--but I remember her primarily from Curiosity Shop and (later) Lassie as well as a fine performance in the telefilm "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn."

But she wasn't my first TV crush. That was Jeremy Gelbwaks.

I remember her best as the voice of Lucy in the animated Peanuts cartoons.......she had a very distinctive look, and voice!

I probably developed simultaneous crushes on Barbara Eden of "I Dream of Jeannie" and Elizabeth Montgomery of "Bewitched"...and maybe Ginger of "Gilligan's Island" as well (it wasn't until later on that I realized that Mary Ann was hotter). Oh yeah, and also Betty Jo from Petticoat Junction (later on I realized that Bobbi Jo was hotter).

In terms of child actresses I had early crushes on, I'd say:

1) Angela Cartwright (Penny from "Lost in Space")
2) I had a crush on Pam Ferdin as well, I thought she was just so cute... she not only did the voice of Lucy on some of the Charlie Brown stuff, she also played Lucy Winters on a Brady Bunch episode.
3) Jan and Marcia

I probably didn't start watching the Brady Bunch until about the 3rd season or so... so I thought Marcia was beautiful... then of course, Jan passed her up in Season 5... but I remember when the BB first went into afternoon reruns, and I saw the early episodes for the first time... I was in total shock at how young all the kids looked compared to season 5... Jan was definitely cuter than Marcia during the first couple of seasons, imo.

Of course, once I hit my teens, i had crushes all over the place... Melissa Sue Anderson, Valerie Bertinelli, Kristy McNichol, Kim Richards... same crushes as every other guy!

Oh yeah, I also had a big crush on Darla Hood of "The Little Rascals"
