Default Did UM ever show this one?

I am quite vague on this episode. I think it may be from the 92/93 season. It was a Wanted case about a man who was quite abusive to his daughter. In the segment re-enactment, UM show a scene where the man picked up his daughter and was physically assaulting her(most likely strangling her but I can't recall accurately). The girl, who was an adult in the interview, said that he let her go and she could not remember if she struggled away or is he merely dropped her, ran and hid under a piece of furnature where she saw her father was coming after her with a knife and yelling "here doggy" and calling to her as if she a disobedient animal.

Maybe this was on AMW and not UM since both the shows share many stories.

If you remember the date/place of this one as well as an update, if any, thanks.

I vaguely remember a case about a girl who was very badly abused by her father, and was hit by a belt, leaving several scars on her face. She tried several times to escape her father in foster homes I think, but was unsuccessful because he kept finding her and bringing her back. I'm not sure what the turning point was for her, but she grew up to be a parent herself, and there was footage of her with her daughter, and she was pushing her on a swing. That's all I remember.

Now I don't know if this is the same case you were wondering about or not, but I have always wondered about the case I just described, because I have only seen in once, and I don't remember too many of the details either.

So anyone can help us with either case, that would be great!?

I remember that particular segment. It aired in 1989, and soon afterwards she was reunited with her foster parents.

As for the segment that MetalHybrid described, it doesn't ring a bell. Maybe it was never rerun on Lifetime (if such an UM segment existed)? I just don't remember anything about a father coming after the daughter with a knife.

Thanks Kane! I have always wondered about that segment. I remember she described her foster parents as changing her life.

The story MetalHybrid described was on UM. It was the story of Miriam Parton, whose father apparently suffered from some sort of psychotic break (the incident described above) in the late 1940s and was subsequently hospitalized. This led to her supposedly being placed with foster parents by the name of Mike and Pat McGuire for about a year or so before being returned to her natural parents (according to memories she and her therapist said were repressed until they surfaced during therapy at some point during the 1980s. A search of records turned up nothing, however--which isn't entirely unusual considering the time period this was supposed to have taken place). While a viewer called to confirm that the couple actually existed and even sent a photo supposedly of Pat, I don't think Miriam was ever reunited with the couple. There were some concerns that Miriam's memories were actually false. Personally, I've never known what to think. I guess I lean toward her telling the truth in the absence of any definitive evidence that her memories are false.
