Default I requested That's My Mama from my library

I've requested That's My Mama Season 1 through my library inter-loan service. It could take several weeks or months to get it, but hopefully maybe I can take a look at to see if I like it well enough to purchase. From the reviews of it it just sounds sort of "generic?"

It was an okay show, although not hilariously funny. I bought both season for the heck of it, since it was a 70's sitcom. The DVD has the syndicated episodes, so it goes quickly.

I can't believe I waited so long to see such a crappy show

Well, I'll know how well I will like this show tomorrow. The set has arrived and I will pick it up at the library tomorrow.

I finished watching Disc 1. This show isn't bad, but it isn't great. I haven't witnessed any side-splitting hilarious antics yet. From what I've seen so far I probably can't really name an episode that stands out, but I did like the pilot with Judy Pace (from the movie Frogs). I might buy this if I could find a really cheap used set. I must say the show has the worst theme music! lol.

I thought the season 2 episodes were also supposed to be worse than season 1.

Well I finished the set. I can't say it was a bad show, but it was watchable. Sort of a light and breezy comedy. Nothing too serious. Maybe that is why the show didn't take off. People were probably watching things like All in the Family, Maude, and Sanford and Son which no doubt killed the show in the ratings.

The show should've just been the three guys...Clifton, Earl, and Junior with Tracy and Leonard occassionally dropping by. Mama herself wasn't that good , and I expected her not to be so mean.

Default Mama wasn't funny

I thought Mama came off as a bitter and insulting middle aged lady. I know her character was supposed to be funny, but she just sort of grated on my nerves. I thought she would be more funny, but she was just a little bitmore annoying and not very humorous. Maybe it was the way Theresa Merritt portrayed her. I thought that woman had an irritating voice. No wonder I don't think I've ever seen her in anything else. The show was sort of so-so. The show wasn't that great to make people tune in every week, but had enough viewers to give a two season run. It just couldn't seem to gel. They needed a little more action.

You know Clifton Davis was cast for the teen girls and women for ratings that never came through. I wished Neville would've used that gun on Mama Curtis!
