Default To all the younger members on here...

...Do you enjoy watching Christmas classics like Miracle on 34th Street and It's A Wonderful Life? I remember growing up as a kid and enjoying these movies. My daughter was watching "34th Street" with me and said she was bored. If you don't like these movies, is it because they are in black and white? Is it the story? What is it that you don't like about the movies?

I think it depends on what your taste is. I used to try to get into old movies like Casablanca and Gone With The Wind, but they aren't as entertaining to me as I thought they were. I do like the old comedies like Animal Crackers and A Night At The Opera.

I'm not one of the younger members here, lol, but my guess is that these old movies don't appeal to today's kids because they're not exciting enough. Todays movies have all these special effects. Movies like Jim Carrey's, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, are what kids seem to like.

It could be the black and white thing too. It's a shame though because movies like Miracle On 34th Street and It's A Wonderful Life have such wonderful messages.

Then again there are several cartoon and claymation Christmas movies that have been around for quite a long time and I didn't meet anyone my age who hasn't enjoyed them.

Definitely. Ultimately though, I think it's just a matter of most people porn in the last 10-15 years though not having the attention span or patience to sit through a special-effectsless movie, and actually WATCH the MOVIE

I'm in my 30's now and I love those types of movies but they didn't appeal to me as much when I was a kid. I guess I just wasn't old enough or mature enough to appreciate them like I do now. The black and white thing was never a problem for me because for some reason shows like Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best and The Munsters were always able to hold my interest.

I am not sure if I count as a younger member or as an older member. I am a big fan of classic movies, but I don't really care for those classic Christmas movies. This has nothing to do with the age of those movies, because as I said I love old movies. I just don't like Christmas movies no matter when they were made.

I'll be honest, I don't really care for those types of movies. I love many old movies, but with me, I just don't like most Christmas movies in general. They usually have the same themes, and bore me to death. The only Christmas movies I can really think of that I like alot, are the first two Home Alone films, because they don't just tell a typical Christmas story. I do however love all the old Christmas specials like: the Smurfs Christmas, Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, A Muppet Christmas Carol, etc, but for some reason, Iv'e just never been able to get into Christmas movies, whether they were old, or new.

I've never seen Its A Wonderful Life, or the original of Miracle on 34th Street, I've only seen the 1993 remake. But I hate old movies, I can't stand the black and white The only thing I will watch in black and white is anything with Lucille Ball.

I like older movies very much. I enjoy watching the old 'classics'. Of course, that comes in handy considering my current education (something with Theater- and Film Arts).

Im not a big movie person to begin with, but Im more into comedies. Ive also never seen either one of those movies, besides snippets so I dont know. As a kid though, I know I never liked those puppet movies - Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town...
