In the final episode of "Kotter," Epstein presents the newlywed Horshacks with a housewarming gift "...from the West Side."
The sign is from the LOS ANGELES Transit Authority! "Kotter" was set in Brooklyn, so L.A. would be over 2,000 miles away! I wonder if this was an in-joke, the "west side" being a reference to the West Coast or something like that. Now, you'd think the Komack art department could've conjured up a New York sign, wouldn't you?? Just another example of how Kotter's final season ran a good show into the ground. |

I think it was an in-joke, because Juan said
"I got this over on the west side, WAAY over on the west side." ------------------ Epstein: Once I connect the dots, that's that. Chico: Clean Clean Clean! ::jumping up and down:: Ed Brown: Ed Brown's Garage, home of the dirty mural. Louie: Stick out your can, Here comes the Garbarge man! |

I think you're right. I must've forgotten that one. Funny how it took me 22 years to notice that gaffe. |
