Default Honestly everyone, did the Will Smith character strike you as someone from the

GHETTO?-lol Not to me, he did a poor job of portraying someone from the hood. I think Alfonso Riberio did a better job in portraying someone from the hood than Will in the episode when they go to jazz's place. Even Will's friend Ice Tray was more believable as someone from the hood but never Will. i think that the story was just supposed to be about Will living with his Mom in philly who lived in the ghetto but not someone who was hanging out on the corner. I never got that impression from watching the Will Smith character. Anyone else?

I never got that feeling either. Good point. I mean, my feeling and how I imagine Will living in Philly with his mom, is that he was up to no good, but in a nerdy, geeky way. Certainly no thug, or hoodlum type stuff. I also think that he was "picked on" by the thugs and hoodlums of the ghetto (not really a ghetto either, just some less expensive neighborhood). He was sent away for his "safety". I also feel that the character was "pretending" to be some big ass troublemaker, like he was making himself seem "tough" when in reality, he wasn't. That's what I think was really the reason behind the character going to live with his uncle. It's like the theme song was really being sarcastic abt him being some tough kid.

Exactly, that's why I always got so tired of hearing him say in certain eps-"I'm From West PHilly" Trying to come off as this tough kid which in reality he was not a fighter. Remember he had to put a fake scene so that Lisa would think he was Tough?-lol

Yep, so true. He made himself seem like something he DEFINITELY wasn't.

Well, if you watch the intro to the show, they show him being picked on by some thugs.

Right, so if that's the case, why would they have the character on the show saying-"this how it goes done in the hood" Or remember the episode when they were in the elevator and Will told Uncle Phil-"you know I'm coming straight out the hood right" I don't think Will should have teased carlton about being a nerd because Will was really a punk. Now he could have teased him about being SINGLE

I know.. He wasn't hard at all! Lisa was even harder than Will was. I was embarrassed for Will on the ep where Will & Lisa went bowling. Some other guy was hitting on Lisa & will tried to protect her & he got the wind knocked out of him!! LOL & then Lisa kicked the guys butt!

Yeah I never took him seriously as someone who would protect his girl.
