I don't understand why religious fundamentalists are all obsessed with pushing this movie, and then the same people condemn all things Harry Potter... IMO, aren't both stories good vs. evil at the root of it?

In all honesty, I didn't see the religious ties with the exception of a few things in the movie. Not that I was looking for them or anything, I'm sure in the novel its less subtle.

Anyway, I was really disappointed with this time. The beginning story is solid but the direction eventually goes downhill and I found myself bored at times. I still enjoyed myself some what but the acting with the exception of the little girl weren't strong enough to carry the movie and the special effects were run in the mill.

I personally could not stand this movie. I really wanted to walk out, but it was Christmas, and I wanted to seem appreciatve of my family.

I really liked the movie. The story line was interesting and a liked a lot of the charectors. I didn't see a huge religous connection. At times the movie seemed a little boring and chessy but overall I liked it.

I have been reading C.S. Lewis' book, THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. It is quite good. I had seen the 1979 TV cartoon special, produced
by Bill Melendez (who made the Peanuts specials). Some critics didn't like it,
but I enjoyed it. I haven't yet had a chance to see the Disney movie but the
CG animation effects in the promos looks very impressive. I also hear that the
youngsters in the cast are very good.

I just saw it last night thought it was good, but having been brought up on the version that came out the late 80's I was slightly disappointed. I think the 80's version was more faithful to the book, maybe because it was longer so it seemed more detailed.

Not to spoil the film for those who haven't seen it, but some of Aslan's life reflected that of Jesus'. So I think that's what the religious groups were getting at

I loved this film. It was so much better than the BBC original. The Battle scenes were great!!

I just finished reading the book. C.S. Lewis, a noted Christian, wrote many
other books and was a friend of J.R..R. Tolkien (of LORD OF THE RINGS fame).
The radio minister that I listen to every Sunday preached a whole sermon on
THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. He was pleasantly surprised that
the Disney studio would, in his words, spends millions of dollars to bring the
Gospel to the silver screen. Truly a miracle, as he put it. I haven't yet seen
the movie but hope to someday when I have a chance. My finances being
what they are right now, I might have to wait until it's on DVD. I was
familiar, though, with the 1979 Bill Melendez TV animated special. Even then,
I noticed a clear parallel between Aslan's sacrifice and the life and death of
Jesus Christ. I think nearly anyone who has read the scriptures would see
that as a metaphor.

I missed it, but I've seen clips from earlier versions, including a parody on an episode of "The Young Ones," which I thought was hilarious.

Anyway, here's Anna Popplewell.
