I bought something from a Canadian seller on eBay. He told me that
Canada upped the postal fees JUST for the Christmas season. Could this possibly be true? I checked www.canadapost.ca, and couldn't find anything to this affect. Anyone from Canada know about this? Thanks! |

No rate increases, not until Jan 16th (and that's for letter mail )
We do have to pay a fuel surcharge (based on gas prices) on any small package but that's been in effect since 2003. http://www.canadapost.ca/business/co...vg_price-e.asp |

I don't know if it's true, but if the shipping fee was stated in the auction & he's trying to get you to pay more...you are not obligated to do so. (Even if it was a shipping calculator.) You can report him if he tries to do this (unless the shipping fee was never stated anywhere in the auction). I think it's 'item not as described' or 'non-performing seller'.

This is what he stated:
"Canada post service had just increase their shipping Freights for Christmas Days this week" Sort of makes me wonder...

If the auction stated the shipping fee or included a shipping calculator & the seller is trying to get you to pay more, check out the following thread. Specifically, reply #7 by pink_slap who tells you how to report this, if the seller won't relent. FYI, many buyers and/or sellers use posting id's on the message boards, so the fact that pink_slap has zero feedback is not an issue. And no, I'm not pink_slap.
