There is this lawyer at my job, he's about 6-3 and about 300lbs. There are times he often pulls his van behind the building of where I work, and he allows his secretary and paralegal to load up boxes of law work into his van while he sits there and watch. These are not big ladies, and these boxes are not light. I know he's their boss, butt hat's a little backwards to sit there and watch women load up your van with boxes when he's capable (and big) of doing it himself.

No, I'd say it's safe to say that's not the gentlmen thing to do, but on the same token, it's there JOB to assist him... i dunno, I still think he should get out and help, and I think most guys would, or at least offer

At 6'3"and 300 pounds, he has no excuse not to help. He can definitely lift the boxes and he should help whether the ladies offer or not. At 6'2" and 140 pounds, I can lift heavy boxes easily so someone double my weight should also.

Surprisingly, I'm not. I'm thin but I am muscular. If it weren't for the muscle, then you could say I'm a rail. |

I dunno, I've worked some manual labor jobs where a lot of us gals did some heavy lifting on a daily basis. But, the foreman usually chipped in an helped, not only was it the gentlemen thing to do, but it made things move alot faster with the extra hand. |

I think it's just lazy of him. I don't care what the girls were hired to do...heavy lifting isn't normally in a secretary or a paralegal's job description. Sounds like he's just abusing his authority. Plus, I mean, he's a lawyer...what can you expect?? <---- friendly job at lawyers thinking they're better than everyone.

Being a paralegal and having worked with many lawyers, it's sad to say, but alot of lawyers out there think their paralegals (who do all the lawyers work anyways) and their secretaries are more than their paralegals and secretaries.
Back in 1995 my best friend and I worked by ourselves for this lady lawyer who had her own firm. This lawyer had us go clean her house, run her private errands, pick her up from restaurants when she was "not sober" to drive; cover her ass when her boyfriend inquired abt things; the list is endless!!!! I had to appear on her behalf one time in court because she was "not feeling well" and I had to find a good excuse to tell the judge. |
