Default Two episodes...

Hello! I am very happy to have found this forum as UM is one of my favorite shows (along with "In Search Of...").

There are two episodes I recall seeing some time ago that I need info on. The first one involved a man who calmly walked into a house and shot a man in front of either his wife or daughter. The killer was caught by the police and either the wife or the daughter went out to the police car to ID the suspect and she went hysterical upon seeing the suspect. Does anyone here know which episode that was? I saw that one on Lifetime about four years ago and it was quite disturbing.

The other episode involved a woman who was being stalked by a man. She would look out of her office window and see a billboard or sign that had a message written on it directed to her. I believe something to the effect of "Not much more time left" was written on the sign just before she disappeared. I believe this one was in Ohio (?).

TIA.

Welcome to the board! I like the old "In Search Of......" narrated by Leonard Nimoy as well.

As for the first story I believe it is the Larry Dickens one. The murderer's name was Edward Bell and he was out exposing himself to children playing in the neighborhood. Larry Dickens went outside to confront him and Bell shot him while his mother watched from the window (it is much discussed on here that Matthew McConaughay played Larry Dickens in the reenactment). Larry's sister arrived during all of this and she was the one who ID'ed Bell and started to attack him while he sat in the back of the police car. Larry Dickens did die of his injuries. Bell was on the run but was eventually captured and went on trial in 1993 where he was convicted of the murder and sentenced to 70 years in prison.

The second story is about Cindy Anderson. She is still missing. Here is her profile on the doe network.

Thanks for the reply! And thanks for the welcome!

As I was searching the site earlier I read about the Bell case and it sounded familiar though I wasn't completely sure it was the same case. I remembered that the case was in Texas and it was quite shocking.

Concerning the Anderson case, I get the impression that the maintenance man who wrote the messages wasn't involved in the case... the drug conspiracy theory seems to make more sense to me.

About Cynthia Anderson - yea I may be in the minority but I think the message to her on the billboard and her abduction may not even be related, just a weird coincidence. The late maintenance man could have had a thing for her and wrote that on the billboard. But I agree with you she was probably abducted because she heard something she shouldn't have.

I loved "In Search Of..." too. The combination of Leonard Nimoy's voice and that freaky 70s synthesizer music gave me the creeps! I wish they would put that show on DVD.

Welcome to the board.

Regarding Cynthia Anderson it is believed oddly enough by many residents in Ohio that her remains can be found in the basement of a white house and the location of the house has been determined but I'm not sure if it's ever been searched.

Anderson is believed to have been murdered in order "to send a message" to an attorney who worked in her office. Take that for what its worth. Very scary case - perhaps one of the creepiest of the entire series.

Thank you.

Totally agree about ISO.

I wish someone (NBC/Universal perhaps?) would get the rights to ALL of UM and put them out on DVD. Complete episodes as they were broadcast originally. Same thing with ISO... I believe Universal MAY have the rights to that one.

If those two series were to come out on DVD that would be it. I wouldn't buy any other DVDs!

Only First Look, Cosgrove/Meurer Productions, and Buena Vista (which owns Lifetime) have the rights to UM. So getting someone else to obtain the rights to the show is easier said than done. There are literally thousands of UM segments (many of which are prone to possible updates), so the chances of every single one of them being issued on DVD are no more realistic than the chances of seeing every 60 Minutes story being released on DVD.

Fan complaints like this have led me to paraphrase Abraham Lincoln: You can please some of the fans all of the time, and all of the fans some of the time. But you cannot please all of the fans all the time.

My point is that no matter how hard you try, you can't keep every one of your fans happy all the time. Fans may make whatever suggestions they wish, but it should be noted that is realistically impossible for every suggestion to come into fruition.

Since First Look issued the UM DVDs, that's the company you should write to if you want to try and convince them to issue more UM DVDs.
