Default the "Merry Christmas" crowd vs. the "Happy Holidays" crowd

shut the hell up both of you and wish each other a good Festivus

Seriously though, I cannot believe this debate, either way, "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" are both meant for good, For non-Christians, would you be happier if someone wished you a "go **** yourself" than a "Merry Christmas"? Same for Christians with "Happy Holidays". There is so much negativity and arguing over everything that now it extends to what's supposed to be one of the happiest times of the year.

Merry Christmas to all of you and I hope each and every one of you have Happy Holidays. Geesh.

well, I think both sides are equally bad. People who are offended at "Merry Christmas", sorry, but it IS Christmas, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the birth of Christ. It is a CHRISTMAS TREE, not a HOLIDAY tree. But other people are launching a holy war against "Happy Holidays". I see "Happy Holidays" as lumping New Years along with it, nothing more, nothing less. I also wish they'd stop this "Jesus vs. Santa" debate. Jesus is what Christmas is about, but Santa at the same time is an important symbol of the season and I don't see why people equate the myth of Santa with that of Satan. I think each and every one of you should watch the South Park skit where Jesus and Santa are at a karaoke bar singing together, haha.

Maybe next season, instead of wishing each other "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holidays", we should say to each other "your mom's a whore", "suck my ****", "go **** yourself", "that outfit makes you look fat" and "eat **** and die", I'm sure that is just so much more pleasant and kind than wishing each other happiness and merriness, am I right or am I right?

All of my long life it has always been "Merry Christmas" This Happy Holidays thing is very recent. I am all for not offending anyone but come on........... this time of the year was Christmas first. And I guess I should be offended when someone says to me Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. I am not offended because Happy Holidays to me means Merry Christmas AND Happy New Year. Which are 2 separate holidays.

I agree! That's what Happy Holidays means to me- Christmas and New Years. All this "Happy Holidays" stuff only recently started and this whole new thing where it's a "Holiday Tree" and not a "Christmas Tree"

It's getting really ridiculous. I'll say Merry Christmas to whomever I want to.

Anyway, people should say whatever they want. When people move here or live here, they need to accept the fact that this country is Christian by majority and Christians celebrate Christmas. And for that reason, they shouldn't be offended. Just like if a Christian went to the middle east and someone wished them Happy Ramadan or something. Hardly something to go balistic over.

And since the US is also a retail country, Merry Christmas could also mean Happy Shopping.

The holiday tree thing is so ********, THE TREE IS MEANT TO SYMBOLIZE CHRISTMAS, NOT HANUKAH. Should we start calling the dreidel a "Holiday dreidel?"

Ahaha, exactly People need to shut up. We have nothing to complain about so we search for things that are so pointless. Hell, let's not use words anymore. Just go hug someone. I don't care if he's disease ridden or Jewish...just go hug the son of a bitch.
