Default Lynne Moody/Joan Pringle

I finally finished That's My Mama season 1 yesterday and started season 2 today. RetroTVCollector, in doing your research on this show have you found out why Joan Pringle replaced Lynne Moody as Tracy? I know Joan was married to Teddy Wilson in real life.

Nope never found out the reason, just read in a Oct 1975 Jet that Joan Pringle was taking over as Clifton's Sister.

Found out Lynne Moody starting doing Movie roles after season 1 of That's My Mama. One of the roles was in a 1975 Movie called-"Las Vegas Lady"

I think something else must have happened that she was replaced, like she didn't want to do the show anymore or the producers or the network wanted to get rid of her. She could do the movie and still be on the show too.

Maybe she wanted to try movie roles and wanted to get away from Sitcoms. That's what Will Smith did

I remember she went on to star on the short-lived E/R for one season.

IMO, I prefer her over Joan Pringle.

She appeared on the Jeffersons too but was never in the same scene as sherman Hemsley, only when she was on E/R

The creators and writer's of That's My Mama felt that Moody wasn't that "good of an actress", so they replaced her with Pringle who had more acting experience. The ironic thing is that whether they felt Lynne Moody was "a good actress" or not she fit in very well as the younger "slightly annoying, bratty" sister. Joan Pringle did not fit in well, she looked about two years older than Clifton Davis and seemed like she was gonna give him some kind of lecture when she talked. I thought Moody was good in Roots and Pringle was good in The White Shadow though.

It's funny that they didn't feel that Clifton Davis was a bad actor

The only highlights of the show was Junior and Earl.

Well, she was great as Patricia Williams on Knots Landing. Too bad she left that show as well. They gave her less and less to do during her last year on the show. I sorely missed her character.

Years ago on a job I was happy because I was given less responsibilities and I was so young and stupid to realize that meant I was on my way out-lol

When you get LESS to do it's about to be OVER

From what I read, she wanted out. She and her TV husband were secondary characters that were psuedo main characters. Lynne wanted more and I can see why as she has had done a lot more with her roles in the past. They killed off her character but kept the husband on the show. Had she remain on Knots Landing, she along with her hubby, would have gone from psuedo lead characters to lead characters. She had a good storyline the first two years and then things started to fizzle as she and hubby rode the cotails of other characters.
