Hello HD fans, hey i was watching CNN news and they was saying that paramount television has bought DreamWorks for LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Paramount Pictures has agreed to buy independent film studio DreamWorks SKG Inc. for nearly $1 billion cash in a deal designed to help both companies reverse their troubled fortunes. Here are some of the quotes to the article that i read off of the cnn article here are a couple of the quotes "
The sale on Sunday marks the end of an 11-year dream for Hollywood moguls Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, who had ambitious goals for DreamWorks that once included television, music, films and the Internet. Moreover, the DreamWorks acquisition is seen as a critical gambit for Paramount, which has been under orders from parent company Viacom Inc. to improve the quality of both its movies and earnings. Paramount will pay $775 million in cash and assume $825 million in debt and other obligations, the company said. it goes on to say "We see this at Paramount as a transforming event for the studio," said Brad Grey, Paramount's chairman and CEO. The studio will finance the deal by immediately selling the DreamWorks film library, which Paramount values at between $850 million and $1 billion. The company said it is in advanced talks with several parties and expects to have a deal within weeks. NOW HD fans we have got to ask ourselves this question, based on the quote that i have posted up, you meant to tell me that paramount can buy DreamWorks for $1bn but they cannot buy the music rights or have any plans to bring season 2 of happy days, thats it just plan stupid, i guess they do not care about the classic show that rocked abc on tuesday night, or the dvd series that we the fans have been waiting for so long, thats a shame |

actually, this is EXACTLY why Paramount hasn't secured those music rights and given us a second season set - its too risky an investment; they need to make every release decision based on what will give the greatest return on their money. If more people were buying the series, they would be bringing in enough to move ahead with it.
I wonder if this deal, or more specifically the conditions which caused it, could mean that Paramount might sell the rights to Happy Days to some other company (like Shout! Factory) to try and release... ? |

What I don't understand is that the theme song is the same for the second season as the first season. So why do they have so much trouble getting the music rights? Why did they have to buy Dreamworks why can't they just finish putting out Happy Days!
