have read the contract he signed with the encyclopedia salesman??? He bitched abt the late fees, other fees, having a $20 something fee added if they are late, etc. etc. etc. He had no right to bitch as if the salesman conned him. James got them in that mess. Sure the salesman lied when he said he couldn't take the books back, but if James had been smart, they wouldn't have a worry.
He said that $5 wasn't going to get them closer to the poor house (something like that, chow line?) then they already were. Yet, James would gripe abt other times when money was tight and every cent counted. |

James was more of a fool for agreeing to buy the books just because the salesman was blind.

It would've been better if one of the kids agreed to buy the books or even Florida and then James goes crazy when he discovers the loophole.

James only made a down payment on the encyclopdi set because the salesman was handicap. So he didn't really read the contract he just was doing the guy a favor by making a down payment since he was blind. |

Still, for a family that lives day by day, making ends meet, it was foolish of him to sign on for something like that without reading it first, or asking alot more questions. |

I've done things for people when I've felt sorry for them. And thats what James did, You can't knock a man for trying to help out a blind man. Sometimes when you try to help someone out, it turns around and bites you right on the ass.

Blind or not, if I don't have the money I just don;t have it. I'm not going to help someone help out if my money situation is tight just because they are handicap. So I would have said-" I wish I could help you out but we just can't afford it right now" |

I would han't given the man my last 5 dollars either. But he felt for the man. And if James would have told him, "Sorry I can't afford it right now" Then there wouldn't have been a show LOL. We all know that in real life no one would give up their last dollar to some stranger, but in the fictional life they had to. |
