Michael Jackson reveals new single releases
6 Dec 2005 The star to drop 20 Dual Disc singles next year. Michael Jackson has revealed details of an audacious singles release package for 2006. The global superstar, who has sought refuge from media attention in the Gulf States since the summer, will release 20 of his biggest singles from January to May 2006 on the new dual disc format. According to his label, the release will be the first time an artist has ever used Dual Disc, which contains two sides of audio and video, for a single release. Starting January 23, 2006, SonyBMG will release one single each week for a five-month run, mirroring last year's campaign for Elvis Presley's singles reissue. "Thriller" and "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" are the first to drop, released simultaneously on January 23, followed by "Rock With You", "Billy Jean" and many other of his biggest hits. The campaign ends May 29th with "Blood On The Dancefloor". Each Dual Disc single will feature an exact replica of the original 7" or 12" artwork, enclosed in a limited and numbered card wallet. All the audio has been digitally re-mastered and will feature the original 7" or radio edit of the lead track plus a sought after remixes or related songs. "Michael has been fully behind this project and the originality of the first ever dual disc single idea typifies the creativity of one of the most innovative artist in our lifetime," said SonyBMG's Darren Henderson. "The quality of each single, having the audio on one side and the video on the other, is a compelling proposition for his fans.' ORDER OF RELEASE: 23 Jan 06 - Thriller + Limited Edition Box 23 Jan 06 - Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough 30 Jan 06 - Rock With You 06 Jan 06 - Billie Jean 13 Feb 06 - Beat It 20 Feb 06 - Bad 27 Feb 06 - The Way You Make Me Feel 06 Feb 06 - Dirty Diana 13 Mar 06 - Smooth Criminal 20 Mar 06 - Leave Me Alone 27 Mar 06 - Black or White 03 Apr 06 - Remember the Time 10 Apr 06 - In The Closest 17 Apr 06 - Jam 24 Apr 06 - Heal The World 01 May 06 - You Are Not Alone 08 May 06 - Earth Song 15 May 06 - They Don't Care About Us 22 May 06 - Stranger in Moscow 29 May 06 - Blood on the Dance Floor http://www.soundgenerator.com/news/i...articleid=6544 Quick facts... * Michael Jackson worked on the VISIONARY project as Executive Producer, giving final approval on the music & video editing and even packaging design * The first CD single is released with the collector's Box on January 23rd (United Kingdom) * The singles will be chart eligible in the United Kingdom * Each single is a Dual Disc - featuring a standard CD format on one side and a DVD format on the other * When all 20 CD singles are combined, they form a giant single image of Michael ![]() Michael is dead to me as far as I care, but... if they release the similar things in the US, I might budge on some of these for some of the old 12" remixes and the sort that haven't been available on CD in years (if not ever), it's a great deal and kinda nifty too. Might be the smartest thing Jacko has thought up in 2 decades. |

You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents. |
