Default does the new class compare to the old class?

after seeing 7 seasons of the new class i thought to myself how could a show have 7 seasons if it was so bad? but i remember watching a new class episode once, like the MAX was getting torn down or something and I think slater was on the episode. overall i didnt like the show and havent really seen anything else from the new class...but does it compare to the old one? i mean it has 7 seasons...thats gotta mean something, right?

I watched both The Orginal and The New Class. The Original was good but I liked the New Class more.

The New class started High School around 93 and 94 so did I and the majority of them and I are the same age around 26 27 maybe a few them are a few years younger than me..

It had 7 seasons that means it wasn't bad at all in my opinion..

It is a good show, people who say it's horrible or whatever just do it because they think it's "below them" to watch it. As for the episode you saw, that was a clip show so it wasn't as funny as a regular episode, in my opinion.
On a side note, the other day I noticed that they never did those silly little "daydream" sequences that were always on the original series. After season 1 of the New Class I don't remember any.

OMG there's just NO comparison!!

I wash my hands of anything having to do with The New Class. Not because I think it's beneath me or any of that; I just am in LOVE with the absolute awful cheesyness of some of the original SBTB episodes, including those 'daydream' sequences! SBTB is -classic-, man. It's like comparing Three's A Crowd to Three's Company.

People will always fondly remember the original cast; however, apart from this board, I've never met anybody in my LIFE who could name any of the casts of the New Class--maybe one or two characters at best.

Couldn't have said it better myself!....The New Class is an OKAY show. They should have just dropped SBTB's name from it, and maybe everyone wouldn't hate it so much....It lasted longer because they kept switching kids, and because they had nothing else to air on saturday mornings. They always put TNC on twice, or Hang Time on Twice. They probably kept it for filler...And because the kids that were watching it probably were young, and didnt know about the original....IMO

I knew about The Original I watched The Original but still liked the New class better.Like I said in my opinion obviously it wasn't bad because it had 7 seasons.

I really don't like The College years. If anything is cheesy and I wash my hands off of is The College years. One the Original Graduated they should of just let them move on forget The College years and keep around The New class which they did.

Hang Time is a great show too.I'm waiting patiently for the day they announce that great show is coming to DVD.It all my Opinion and I'm going to stick with it I'm sorry.

Unless you decide whether or not you like a show based on the number of people who can name cast members, that point doesn't really mean anything. The New Class doesn't have the long history, tv movies or syndicated exposure the original series has. All things being equal, who's to say the New Class would have that fewer fans than the original?

I agree with you there. I like BOTH shows, but the original is definitely the cheesier of the two.

They've actually done some after season 1. I know there's a brief daydream sequence on the season 7 episode Show Me The Money, and I think there's at least another on an earlier season.

It was just one way of pointing out that The New Class just is not as classic as the original SBTB is. Everybody is familiar with the original cast, but the average person really doesn't know any of TNC characters. Like I said, I've never met a TNC fan who wasn't a member of this board.

It is possible too that the reason many remember the Original class is probably because they grew up watching that one.Same for TNC many members here probably grew up with TNC.

I'm 27 so I grew up watching both and I can name the castmembers of both TNC and the Original.Only thing is there is so many castmembers between both TNC and The Original I have no patience naming every single one of them you know what I'm saying..

I answered that point in my previous post when I mentioned that The New Class never had the movies, the syndicated exposure and etc. as the original series. They are two separate cases despite sharing the same name. It makes no sense to mention how familiar the characters of each show is to the "average" person because the average person isn't going to seek out The New Class themselves to find out how it compares to the original. I'm not disagreeing that the New Class isn't considered as classic as the original. That doesn't mean fans of The New Class don't exist, whether a member of this board or not.

Well I know that, but I figured what I was saying might be a valuable contribution to the thread since the question was asking if TNC compares to the old class. The fact is that you're right, TNC didn't have anywhere near as much exposure as the original, and really we've been agreeing all along. He's not asking whether or not the show has fans, because it apparently does, but if it compares to the original and even from an objective standpoint I'd have to say no, it does not.
