Recommend up-and-coming bands to everyone
Alright, I'm officially calling this one..this band is gonna be HUGE..They're called Saving Jane and are kinda poppy w/ a rock edge. Their current single is "Girl Next Door" and is probably that song you heard and had no idea what it was "..she is the prom queen/im in the marching band/she is a cheerleader/im sittin in the stands/she gets the top bunk/im sleepin on the floor/shes Miss America/ and im just the girl next door" But seriously, they're some awesome musicians as well as people so check em out.. www.savingjane.com |

The Secret Machines! Think Pink Floydian longer passages w/ catchy, hooky pop/rock melodies. Their "Now Here Is Nowhere" CD is amazing!
The Shins- any fan of 60s rock will love em. Quirky & very catchy tunes. And You will Know Us By The Trail of Dead- morbid name, but very likeable. Get your hands on a short, very Lennon/ Bowie-esque tune called "All White". |

Okkervil River. The most amazing thing I've ever had the pleasure to listen to. And I know that sounds really dramatic, but it's 100% true. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8247466/ I love this article, and it has mp3s. The songs provided here are a little more pop/rock... a lot of their other stuff is alt-country-ish. This band is incredible simply because of the emotion that goes into every word that they sing. They're both musically and lyrically stunning. Okay, I can rave on about Okkervil River for hours. If you like them I'd recommend the songs "Dead Dog Song" and "Westfall". And "Seas To Far Too Reach". And a bunch of others. And staying with the independent study thing, BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE. kfhsad, I love them. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9776751/ The songs on there are alright, but if you're really interested I'd go download "It's All Gonna Break". oh and Kid Dakota. I started listening to these guys yesterday. They are sooo good. http://www.kiddakota.com/ I could go on for days, trust me. |

I don't really get out a lot. When I do go out, I couldn't be happier. I love being in a nice milieu. I'm as happy as a clam. Just as long as I'm not in some club playing hip-hop. You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents. |
