Default Thought on Season 1 DVD sales

I don't own this DVD, but I have heard that sales of it were disappointing. Could it be that the entire first season didn't feature characters that made the show a hit? I remember Marsha Warfield really being one of the show's strong points. Stories with Mac and Quan Lee were good too. There are a ffew shows that come to mind that really didn't get their groove on until the 2nd season, making a season 1 DVD less desireable. Your thoughts?

That and lack of features, interviews. Plus I think the first season was only like 12 or so eps?? Not a full 22 or 24 like in future years. So Warners is only doing a dopey Best Of disc next year apparently.

Actually I have seen more shows where a Season doesn't have a full 22 or so eps.

But I *really* wish they'd bring it out! (and I am now also really awaiting for the 'Best Of' Set)

I just don't think the show hit it's stride until season three. By then you were closer to the cast that was more well known. I think Warner Brothers did a lousy job marketing the DVD. There wasn't enough publicity for it. The fact is that this was a season that needed a lot of promotion. Look at now. "Night Court" is airing on TV Land. If someone is interested in buying the first season and they are new to the show, they are going to be a bit dissapppinted and probably confused because it is not the same cast.

I will go out and buy the best of DVD. Everyone has to understand that you have to go out and buy at least the "Best of" DVD when it comes out. Otherwise, Warner Brothers will screw "Night Court" again. We can't complain about no release of season two if we don't go out and buy whatever Warner Brothers gives us. I've heard people say that they aren't going to go out and buy the "Best Of "DVD because it's a waste. Well, I say that you then can kiss future releases goodbye. I didn't care much for season one either, but I went and bought the DVD the week it came out for it's historical value and because I wanted to see the show unedited. The way it aired when it was on. No chopping up of the episode. It was great!

Can't wait for the best of.

Yeahhhh, but because NC was a mid-season replacement it only had 13 eps for disc one. $25-30 bucks is a bit steep for half a season's worth. But I just think the sorry case is that the show is a bit forgotten And as Nitcrt1 said, marketed poorly. I mean if it weren't for the 'net, I wouldn't even have known it was out. I don't go DVD browsing at stores hardly ever.
