Default How about separate boards for each L&O series??

Maybe it would take up too much space or it's just not feasible, but I was thinking it would be better if separate message boards were established for Law & Order, Special Victims Unit, Criminal Intent and yes, even the late Trial By Jury.

To me, it would be better if this was done. I mean, I'm glad there's a L&O board at all on a "sitcom" message board, but I just thought this would be a cool thing, that's all.

Part of the reason I brought this is up is because you have to specify in each thread title which show you're referring to. When I'm talking to other people about the shows, I always refer to them by their subtitle. I always ask, hey did you watch Special Victims Unit last night.

I did the same thing with the Star Trek shows, of which there were four also. I think there could be a forum even for Trial By Jury.

Speaking of Dick Wolf, I hear there's a new show (not a L&O) he's coming out with that will star Stephanie March in her old role of Alex Cabot from SVU. Or at least that's the way I understood it. Stay tuned.

This board already doesn't have enough action as there is. If it was more popular, then I'd think seperation would be necessary. And I don't think Trial By Jury ever deserves its own board. If this place becomes popular enough for each show to have their own board, then Trial By Jury threads should just go with the main Law & Order.

Well, the new show is on right as I type this. Of course, your post is several months old. I haven't given Conviction a chance yet.

Do you mean just the original Law & Order?

SVU is still easily doing 9+ on a weekly basis, so it's still doing quite will

Original Recipe and Criminal Intent...not so much. CI seems to just be slowly withering away, and the move to 9 PM has killed Original Recipe. OR *might* be able to save itself if it moves to a better slot/back to 10 QUICKLY, CI's probably unsalvagable

Yea mainly the original one. I've always been one of it's biggest fans but I've only seen about 4 or 5 episodes this year. It's been getting creamed by CSI:NY this year and the move to 9pm was even worst. It finished 4th in its time slot. CI seems to have really fallen off the radar since Desperate Housewives premiered. SVU is still winning its timeslot though and has been the best of the series for several years IMO. I think NBC , with all the reruns that have aired on it and TNT over the last few years has really hurt the show.

I'm relieved to know SVU is still holding strong, it being my favorite of the bunch. Actually after I wrote my last post, I saw it's ratings for the previous week and was glad to see it doing well. I could have dug through articles for the other shows as well, but it was more interesting to hear both your comments. Thanks guys.

In addition to their timeslots, I've thought of the characters as factors. For me personally, I don't watch the original anymore, and it's because Orbach left. I figured others had to feel the same. As far as CI goes, I would assume going against DH is the biggest blow. I've wondered about this season in particular though and how viewers feel with the main detectives having their airtime cut in half. I know Noth is an old favorite, but for me personally (yet another feeling of mine), it's strange not seeing the regulars consistently, especially since I feel D'onofrio is better suited for CI than Noth.

To add, I also never gave the repeated airings on TNT any thought. I would have figured that would help the show, but it's an interesting point. We are getting bombarded with L&O reruns, on TNT, USA, and now Bravo!

The original L&O has been around for a long time now, and like all good TV shows, it might have just run its course, I dunno. It was always an ensemble show, one of the best examples of such. The cast changes over the years (and even the spin-offs) seem to make it stronger, yet we did miss the old cast members too. Like life, changes in personnel seemed to go along with the reality feel of the show. I was sure Jerry Orbach would be a difficult person to replace tho, he was such a dynamic actor. He always made all of his partners look good. I would like to see them try Noth's Det. Logan with Det. Green. He isn't suited for the psychological framework that D'onofrio has established on CI. Maybe Noth would be better than Farina, I don't particularly like Farina in his current role, even tho he is a good actor. I tend to agree with most of you tho, SVU is by far the most interesting of the three these days, the stories still leave you on the edge of your seat.

And on the topic of this thread, I tend to agree with those who vote to keep the L&O franchise on one board, I don't think it gets enough activity as it is, and having seperate boards would only thin out the activity it does get.

Yess, I would like to see Noth go back to the original and see how it works out with him and Martin. I can't remember if I've said the same thing on this board or just kept it to myself. Maybe I told people in real life. Anyways, I've definitely thought that. I think the only thing that can ease the blow to losing Orbach is bringing back a beloved original member, and Noth is it.

The factor of the show being on so long is a good one too. It very well may have just run its course.
