Question Do You Regift?

I do only on certain occasions. I'll give a person a gift along with something I was going to give them anyway.

For example, someone gave me a Yankee Candle earlier this year for my birthday. I've got enough candles. For Christmas, I plan on giving my nephew and his wife a gift certificate for their favorite restaurant. I'll put the candle and the gift certificate in a gift bag. She loves candles.

The people don't know each other, and I figure nobody gets hurt.

Nobody gets hurt??

What about the candle?
Did you think about how the candle feels?

But seriously, I have regifted small items as tokens, like maybe a box of chocolates or a decorative dish or something along those lines. No major regifiting.

Did you ever wonder if a gift you regifted ever got regifted again?

I wonder what the record is for a single item being regifted until its final destination and keeping place.

There's that one fruitcake that's been making the rounds since 1954.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if there was actually an item that has been going around for a decade or more?

I smell a holiday special in here somewhere.

Or, if it's the fruitcake, I definitely smell something.

I have never truely regifted, however I was over at a friend's house awhile back and she was throwing away a bunch of nice stuff....a jewelry box, some nice picture frames. All of this stuff was still in great condition. I took a few items for myself and as potential gifts for others. I haven't actually given any of that stuff to anyone yet...perhaps it's nagging guilt or just the feeling that I haven't found the right person to give them to. Because really, the stuff is all nice (the jewelry box is never used and in it's original cardboard box) and since I'm a student I don't have oodles of money to spend on gifts, esp. since I have so many people to buy for, so I suppose I shouldn't feel too guilty...

I wonder what item holds the record for the most frequent regifting?

My guess is the cha cha cha Chia Pet.

My job gave us honey last year for a X-mas gift and I passed it along to someone else, since I don't like honey.
