Default Has anyone gone through this at their job or is going through it right now?

Since I been at this new job since July, i have never been around so much gossiping. This person is talking about that person and he doesn;t think he knos what he is doing. It's just annoying the hell out of me. And to make it so bad my supervisor is the one who talk behinds people back. There hasn;t been one person he hasn;t said anything negative about to me which u know he is saying the same thing about me when he isn;t around me. I'm just not comfortable being around a person who talks about everyone in the job. Anyone experience this at their job?

Unfortunately, gossip is always going to be everywhere and in every job. Sometimes it's just easier or harder to be around/avoid it, depending on co-workers, job duties and who you work with/around.

Gossip is old and tedious.

We have it here too, except it's a co-worker that does all the negative talk behind people's backs. She won't bother to talk to anybody, but, she'll talk trash about them. I agree it is annoying.

I don't remember what kind of job you have, but, if you're permitted to listen to a walkman or something like that while working. It might help drown out the gossip.

My job is filled with catty, petty people...I really can't stand how clique-ish they are either. I work in a family-owned business (not my family, by the way) and mostly everyone gets hired through a connection that works there. So, of course, they form alliances and talk about everyone else that's not in their clique. It's sickening.

I worked at a place like that. I will NEVER, EVER work for a family again as long as I live unless it's my own. I got shoved outside pretty quick and it was awful. I hate those people with a passion to this day.

As for the job I have, I don't work with too many people so we don't gossip much. We talk about the one lady who's always doing weird crap and screwing things up behind her back though. We're all a little confused as to why she does what she does.

I'm sure the nurses and other receptionists in the individual clinics in the building gossip, but I don't know any of them.

Yeah, it's a hard thing to avoid. Even with the small company I work for, we all know each other real well and are all friends, but I hear people saying things about other workers every once in a while.

No, but I heard people who work in the Money Room or in Box Office do it a lot.

School = gossip zone. There was a really bad FALSE rumor that went around about me in May/June of last year.

So yeah I know what gossiping is like

Oh Yes that happened all the time where I used to work. The bosses, the secretaries, everyone would gossip. It didn't bother me though. I'm able to deal with that stuff now. It was a lot different when I was still in school though.
