Default The Most OUTRAGEOUS DVD asking prices...

I'll get it (possibly as a Christmas present), but thinking of the audacious price tag of War of the Worlds just now got me thinking, we should start a most outrageously overpriced movie DVD thread. This does not include overpriced TV shows.

What others can you guys think of?

BTW, WOTW has a 39.98 price tag for a 2-disc set, that's 20 bucks a disc!

some of the Criterion Collection discs are insanely priced. I remember when the Criterion Silence Of The Lambs retailed for $39.99, single disc, only extras being commentary, deleted scenes and text.... MGM ended up releasing a DVD a few years later with more deleted scenes, a documentary, trailers... but without commentary for half that price.

I bought my War of the Worlds for 13 dollars. 14.99 at target opening week with a $3 off coupon...

but actually that was the single disc dvd. The double disc, which is a rip off was 30 when I saw it. I think its 25 at amazon, so you may want to check that out. Its outragous the price of some dvds. If you wait a good nine months, War of the Worlds will be 13-10 bucks easily. I just picked up the fellowship of the ring for 5.88!

Sin City came out a few months ago on dvd and now they're releasing an extended cut for like 30 bucks a pop. Batman Begins single disc with no special features what so ever came out and then TWO days later, they released the special edition, so those who went out and bought it right away was screwed. My one friend was really mad.

Black Friday dvds had good deals but of course thats over and its crazy to go anywhere near a walmart or a best buy.

I highly doubt that the Limited Edition would go down to 13 bucks. I'm probably gonna get it for Christmas, though.

Everybody else who hasn't posted yet, feel free to jump in at any time!
