I got an autographed pic from Valerie Harper :D - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I'm currently after the surviving cast members from Mary Tyler Moore for their autographs...So far, the only other person I have is MTM, and I got an autographed pic from her back in 2003. The second person finally replied to my mail and it came on Friday, while I was away visiting family in Montana. Of course, it was from Valerie Harper. I was too freaking tickled over hearing back from her, because Rhoda is, well, my #1 fave character on MTM. Actually, I REALLY like both MTM and Rhoda...it's hard to decide.

Anyway!

I sent Valerie a letter and an index card. They don't HAVE to sign the card I send along, so it's cool with me if they do sign the card. Valerie responded by sending me a very recent color 8x10 of herself AND signing the card I sent along. I loooove it!

Valerie has really pretty handwriting too.

My scanner sucks, Valerie's hair in that pic isn't THAT dark (from the same photo shoot as the one seen on www.valerieharper.com, to give you an idea of how light her hair is now) and hopefully you can make out that Valerie used a brown Sharpie on both the pic and the index card.

Allison, I know I told you in PM's already, but I'm really happy for you. Val's such a sweetheart.

You should try Betty next (if you haven't already, what w/ her being on Mama's Family too, hehe!). She's also really great about signing for fans.

. I forgot to mention I got her the 1st time in '03 and I wrote to her a month back and just heard from her like two weeks ago. So...I have MTM, Betty and Valerie now. I'm after Cloris, Ed, Georgia and Gavin...I hear Gavin is a toughie but I"m trying anyway. I adore him

I wish I could get Ted Knight's, Nancy Walker's and Lisa Gerritsen's too....but the first two will never happen and Lisa has been out of the spotlight for almost three decades.

congrats on getting that great autograph allison. by the way if you ever do get a lisa gerritsen autograph please let me know because in all my years as a collector ive never even seen one and i would love to know what her signing habits are like.

Lisa's will never happen...I know for sure...she has not done anything since Phyllis ended in 1978. It would be nice to have her autograph, but I know that will never happen.

I sometimes can't even believe I hugged her! She is just the sweetest lady. (Have I said that already? Oh well, it's worth repeating, hehe).

Anyway, back on topic. Ed is a pretty good signer. I have him, and Leigh Ann does, too. Cloris is supposed to be good, but I've never written her. Keep us posted on your autographs, Allison!

Edit: I just realized in re-reading this thread, I actually met Valerie THREE times! hehe. And the last time, she remembered me.

I'm shooting to find a nice, big picture of Valerie as her Rhoda Morgenstern character so I can print it out or buy it and send it to her to have her sign it. Rhoda rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lisa did have a very very small role in the film if lucy fell back in 1996 but outside of that nothing and i have read on at least one website that she dosent even discuss her former acting carrear with friends

im pretty sure that you will at least get a response from ed .he has always been a great signer both thru the mail and in person the odds are that you will get a very nice 8x10 with the ins allison best or best of life ed asner this how he has ins his phots and other items for years good luck getting him im i big fan of his too

There is another poster here, I don't know if you know him... He goes by the name I Love Carol Burnett! and we are almost always in close competition. He must do a LOT of kissing up in his letters, because celebs send him longer inscriptions than the ones I get.

He just recently got Valerie Harper's autograph, and she wrote in a blue sharpie for the pic, and she put a heart after her name, like she always does, but in RED. I was so jealous.

I'm not too wild about the pic myself, but it's a pretty nice pic. He printed it out on stiff computer paper, hehe. The index card is my fave too.
